Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Register have as their guest Mrs. Register's mother, Mrs. Coy Little of Wil mington. Their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Register and daughter, Kristen, of Fairmont, and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leamon Brice and Chad, will arrive for the holidays this week. Mrs. Smith Honored At Retirement Mrs. Elois Smith, a Pin Shop Helper at the Burlington Menswear Dye Plant was given a retirement luncheon by her co-workers on Nov. 19. Many guests including friends and co-workers attended the cele bration. She was presented with a white carnation corsage and a lovely leather handbag. Mrs. Smith has been employed with Burlington Industries for over 31 years. She is a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Club Members Dine At JFR Born On Thursday evening of last week members of the Thursday night bridge club gathered at the JFR Barn in Southern Pines for a" steak dinner. This affair has be come a tradition periodically for the club. Those present were Mrs. William Lamont, Mrs. T.B. Lester. Mrs. W.T. Gibson. Mrs. John Camp bell. Mrs. Neil Senter. Mrs. Robert Gatlin. Personals Mrs. Alvis Dickson will accompany Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Dickson and son and Skip Dickson of Fayette ville to Chapel Hill to spend Thanksgiving in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Good. Mrs. J. A. Jones left last Wednesday for Nashville. Tn. for a visit in the home of her son and daughter-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Monty Lamont and children of New Bern will be here for the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John K. McNeill, Jr. and Mrs. William Lamont. MissSellars Honor Guest At Shower Miss Jane M. Sellars, Jan. 9th bride-elect, was honored in Fay etteville with a miscellaneous shower Tuesday November 9th, co-hosted by Mrs. Diane Guthrie and Mrs. Paula Young at the home of Mrs. Guthrie. Mrs. Sellars' unusual corsage was a "home blessing" made with a miniature wreath of wheat and baby's breath. Daisies were used to decorate the house and the refreshment table where guests choose hot cider or coffee to accompany an assortment of tarts, sandwiches, apples, cheese and fudge. The honoree received many lovely gifts from the twenty guests. The hostesses gave Miss Sellars a popcorn popper and a basket filled with kitchen necessities. Hoke County Residents Attend Parents' Day At Wingate College Frank and Linda Bundy, Rt. 2, Raeford, were among more than 400 parents, relatives and friends who attended the recent Parents' Day activities at Wingate College. In addition to the many attend-" ing from North Carolina, parents came from as far away as Texas, New Jersey, and Ohio, as well as from Maryland, Virginia, and Sul livan's Island, South Carolina. They spent the day touring the campus, meeting faculty members, and being entertained by a wide variety of spectator and participant activities. rhe day's events closed with a performance of The Glass Mena gerie by the Wingate College Theatre. Mrs. Poole Is Guest At Citadel Ring Hop Mrs. Anne Poole with son. Hugh Graham Poole. Citadel Cadet Hugh Graham Poole escorts his mother, Mrs. Anne Poole of Raeford, through the giant replica of The Citadel ring. Some 3,500 graduates, cadets, parents and guests looked on as the pageantry of the annual Ring Hop unfolded at the military college. The Citadel Junior Sword Drill's premiere performance for the year opened the festivities. Its intricate maneuvers and precision move ments with swords drew enthu siastic applause from the specta tors. The Sword Drill then divided to form an arch through which senior cadets and their dates passed after going through the mammoth repli ca of the college ring -- a treasured memory for every Citadel graduate. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Berder Niven re turned during the weekend after a trip to North Myrtle Beach and Surf City. Mr. and Mrs. John McFadyen of Raleigh will spend Thanksgiving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neill McFadyen.
