Friendship Club
To Hold Meet
The Raeford Friendship Club
will hold their regular meeting on
Tuesday, December 7, at 12:00
noon, at the United Methodist
Church. This will be a covered dish
luncheon. Each member will bring
a Christmas gift to be exchanged.
Ashley Burell. choir director and
organist of Raeford Presbyterian
Church will present a program of
Christmas music.
Mr. and Mrs. George Crawford
had as their holiday guests, there
son-in-law and daughter. Dr. and
Mrs. Edward Carmines of Belle
Meade. N.J.. and Mrs. Crawford's
mother. Mrs. Martha \nderson of
Glennville, Ga.
Dr. and Mrs. Drew Bridges of
Wake Forest spent Thanksgiving
with her parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Neeley.
Randy Scull Makes
Eagle Scout Award
Randy Scull
David Randall Scull, spn of Mr.
and Mrs. David Scull, received the
rank of Eagle Scout Sunday,
November 21st. in a court of honor
ceremony held in Raeford Metho
dist Church.
Julian Butler, scoutmaster did
the honors. He was assisted by
Tommy Connell, Doug Arno,
assistant scout masters and Troop
404.
Randy's parents honored him
with a reception following the
ceremony. Approx. 150 people
attended.
Special guests were Randy's
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.V.
Peele and Mr. O.H. Scull of
Raeford and his brother. Mike and
sisters. Delaine and Judy from
Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Tom McLauchlin returned to
the Presbyterian Home in High
Point Sunday after a visit with her
daughter, Mrs. Marie Raynor in
Fayetteville, and friends in Rae
ford.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jameson and
Mrs. J.M. Andrews returned Sun
day after spending the holidays at
the Jameson cottage at Topsail
Beach.

On Saturday the Beach family
left here for Fort Sill, Oklahoma,
where he has been transferred after
being stationed at Fort Bragg for
the past two years.

Artie Schultz had guests in their
new home at the 71st School Rd. in
Fayetteville during the Thanks
giving holidays. Among visitors
were of four generations in the

Is Honored
On Birthday
Marshall Newton, NCSU junior
student, majoring in Agricultural
Science and business, was honored
on his 21st birthday on Friday
evening of last week. Host for the
occasion were his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Buddy Newton, and his
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Randy Watts of Wilmington.
Approximately 55 friends and
relatives from Raeford, Raleigh,
Lumberton. Lake Waccamaw,
Fayetteville, New Jersey and
Florida gathered at the Newton
home in Puppy Creek community
for the gala occasion.
Guests were treated to a pig
pickin accompanied by accessories.

Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pate is

Hold Reunion
At Civic Center *
Approximately seventy-five Gary
Parker descendants gathered for
their reunion, held every other
year, at the Hoke County Civic
Center on Saturday evening. They
came from this county, surround
ing counties, surrounding states
and as far away as Florida and
California to reminisce and enjoy
the fellowship of sharing the i
Thanksgiving buffet dinner, and a
short program.
Each family was presented a
cook book composed of favorite
recipes from the Parker family.
Mrs. Mary Shewbridge of Mar
gate, Florida, is the only living
child of the Gary Parker family.
She was a holiday guest in the home
of her niece and husband, Mr. and |
Mrs. Lester G. Simpson, along
with her daughter, Mrs. Myra
Lentz and son, Earl, of Margate,
Florida, Mrs. Laura Bell of Escon
dido, California, aunt of Mrs.
Simpson, and Dr. and Mrs. Vamid
