Looking For Homes The dogs shown here with the animal control officers at the Hoke County Dog Pound will make good pets, the officers say. The young female Collie type held by John Riley (top) Raeford animal control officer, was picked up "to save her from being run over," he said. The long-haired brown dog (middle) being held by County Dog Warden William Hales is a mixed Chow and German Shepherd 3 years old. The white dog (bottom) he is holding he describes as an "off-white" German shepherd female which has been spayed. "Both are good around chil dren and good watch dogs," Hales says. The pound also has other dogs including puppies, and sometimes cats and kittens available for adoption. If some one wants to adopt a dog but doesn't have the price of getting it spayed or neutered, the person can get help from the Raeford-Hoke County Humane Society for paying the bill. Mrs. Jack McGinnis should be contacted about obtaining this reduced-cost ser vice. People interested in adopting pets are advised to call Riley at the Raeford Police Department (for city dogs) and Hales at the Hoke County Health Department (for dog's he's picked up outside town).
