Charities Big Haifd I he Raeford Kiwanis Club's 1982 Pancake Supper raised over $2,500 for local charities. Dale Teal, chairman of the supper committee, reported Monday. He said attendance was down at the event, which was held Thursday night in Ciibson Cafeteria at Hoke County High School but that the people seemed to enjoy their meals, particularly the sausage which was served with the main course. Each ticket to the supper cost S3 and the buyers were entitled to get all the pancakes they could eat. Among the charities which the money is going to are Share Your Christmas, which is to receive $500. the Sandhills Youth Center for its Christmas program, the Hoke County Civic Center, the Boy and Girl Scouts, trainable multihandi capped, Special Olympics and North Carolina Symphony for the program it held here. Brown Hendrix won the $500 prize in the Raffle but returned $50 of it to the club for charity. I he Pancake Supper is the Kiwanis Club's largest fund-raising event of the year. Among those assisting with the supper were Detective James Mur dock of the Raeford Police De partment. with security and the Raffle drawings; and Mrs. Clara Pope, director of Hoke County school food services, who helped set up the supper. All proceeds from the Pancake Supper and the Rattle will be used to fund Kiwanis Club community service projects and tor contribu tions to other local causes. Sponsors included Tar Heel Hatchery.
