Decorated railing at main entrance of McCain Hospital. Remember Safety When Buying Toys A highlight of holiday fun for children comes from unwrapping toys and playing with them. But the North Carolina Medical Society advises that play can be ruined if the toys turn out to be dangerous. When buying toys for children, buy with safety in mind. Remember that small children often don't recognize the hazards in some toys. Here are some tips on toy safety to help insure a happy holiday: ? Toys for babies should be too large to fit into the mouth. - They should be lightweight and non-breakable. ? The eyes of dolls and stuffed animals should be attached tightly enough so that they can't be pulled out and swallowed. - Watch for toys with rough or sharp edges or those that may break into sharp pieces. - Electrical toys and equipment for school age children should carry a label indicating they have the approval of the Underwriters La boratories. - Chemistry sets should be given only to children mature enough to understand how they're used. Re member to supervise the child at first, while using the set. Remember, keep safety in mind when buying holiday toys. 1 ? v . ? r-'f ? II Him | Home of the Rev. Arthur and Margaret Winstead, 818 N.
