Tabernacle N jj Buck Wrestlers Drop Matches Fortune frowned on the Hoke 4 High wrestling team last week as ? the Bucks dropped two matches to X non-conference foes, running the | team season record to 2-4. The Bucks lost on Tuesday night % when they visited the Colts of Cape f Fear High School. The Bucks lost 1 52-20 as the only points came from 2 the lightweight and heavyweight I classes. The match started Hoke's way 1 as Billy Locklear won the 98 pound | weight class by a decision. Kevin ? Locklear then drew a forfeit in the a I0S pound weight class to give Hoke a 9-0 team score lead. Hoke's score remained the same as Cape Fear built up an unsur mountable lead through the middle weight classes. Hoke scored again in the 167 pound weight class as Orlando McKinnon scored a superior deci sion to make the team score 40-14. Robert Moody, running his record to 4-1, closed out the match with a pin in the unlimited weight class to make the final score 52-20. i The Friday night match was ^ closer against South View, but again Hoke's middle weight divi sions defeats spelled doom for the Bucks as they fell 37-27 to Southview. Once again Hoke's points were scored by the lightweights and the heavyweights. Hoke jumped to a quick 15-0 lead with a decision by Billy Locklear. in the 98 pound weight class; a pin by Kevin Locklear, in the 105 pound weight class; and a pin by Don Woods in the 1 12 pound weight class. Hoke's points would remain the same until Darrell Kelly, in the 185 pound weight class, pinned his op ponent to make the score 37-21. The last Hoke points would come in the 1 95 pound weight class when Robert Moody, with a record of 5-1, pinned the Southview grap pler. Grapplers In Tourney The Hoke High wrestling team will compete in the Pinecrest In vitational Wrestling Tournament on December 28, 1982 at Pinecrest High School. Hoke will be one of eight teams competing in the one day event. Other teams will be Seventy First, Westover, Richmond County, Washington, South Iredell, Charlotte Catholic and host Pinecrest. The tournament will start at 10 p.m. This session will be the "Quarterfinals. The second session will be the semi-finals and will start at 2:30 p.m. The consolation finals will start at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the championship finals at 7 p.m. A plethora of awards will be presented for the tournament. A team Champion and Runner Up trophy will be presented to the outstanding teams. In individual categories awards will be presented to all weight class champions and runner ups. Awards will be given for the fastest pin, the most pins and to the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Huff Settling In As United Manager D. Ralph Huff III of Raeford has settled in with United Realty of Fayetteville as general manager. Murray O. Duggins, president of the firm, which has IS fulltime sales agents and annual sales of more than $30 million, last weekend announced Huff's ap pointment recently, which became effective December 1. Huff left Century 21 Avery Con nell Agency of Raeford to join United. He had been with Connell three years. From 1972 to 1975, he worked with Knit-Away and from 1975 to 1979 with Raeford (now Heritage Federal) Savings & Loan. Duggins said Huff's position will put emphasis on recruiting, training, public relations, and ad ministration. Huff is president of the Raeford Kiwanis Club and is a deacon, treasurer, and member of the choir of Raeford Presbyterian Church. He is vice president of the American Lung Association Mid State Region, served as Christmas Seal chairman in 1976 and United Fund chairman in 1977. He is a former treasurer of the Hoke County Democratic Ex ecutive Committee. He received a Citizenship and Volunteer Service Award in 1979 from Gov. James D. Ralph Huff III B. Hunt, Jr. In 1980, he was named one of the outstanding Young Men of America by the national Jaycees. Huff, 32, attended Hoke Coun ty schools, and in 1972 graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree of Bachelor of Science in business administration.
