UNITED CAROLINA BANK Hoke Jump Rope For Heart Earns More Than $5,000 Hoke County's Jump Rope for Heart gained over $5,000 for the North Carolina Heart Association last month, Susan Blackman, county coordinator for the cam paign, reported Tuesday. The day of the Jump Rope November 20 - Hoke students, teachers, and parents got together to make it a success. The school teams named the winners for the amount of money raised in the jumps were West Hoke's, Scurlock's and J.W. Tur lington's. The Hoke Heart Association's special thanks were given to Jackson's FMA, the A&P, McMillan's Grocery, Home Food Mart, The Grocery Mart, the Coca Cola Co. plant at Aberdeen, and Tucker's Grocery for their support of the Jump Rope. The proceeds will be used to help pay for the fight against heart trouble. I JUMPING ? In the Turlington School gym. Mitch Tyler and Susan Blackman, the school coordinator and county coordinator respectively, help students for the Jump Rope for Heart held November 20. Mary Eanes Eanes Named To Who's Who From PSU Mary Blankenship Eane< of Raeford, a junior majoring in English education, is one of 29 Pembroke State University students who have been named to the 1981-82 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. The students have been selected as being among the nation's outstanding campus leaders. Cam pus nominating committees and editors of the annual directory have included the names of students based on academic achievements, service to their com munities, leadership in extracur ricular activities, and potential. Ward Makes Rutledge Dean's List Brenda Ward of Crawford Street, Raeford, has been named to the Dean's List at Rutledge Col lege, Fayetteville, for the fall semester. She is majoring in paralegal. Mrs. Ward is married to Richard Ward. Tbey have a child, daughter TURLINGTON'S TEAM~The J.W. Turlington School Team raised $397.45 in the Jump Rope for Heart campaign last month, making it the top team in the county. Turlington School raised $ 2,289 altogether in the Heart Asociation fundraising drive. The members of the team, shown here, are Jennifer Eanes, Denise Jacobs, Tammy Leggett, Kimberly Pot ter, Damon Dockery, and Karen Watkins. V. , fv SCURLOCK'S TEAM-This Scurlock School team raised S3 18.20, the most of any school team in Hoke County, for the Jump Rope for Heart campaign. The school raised a total $1,127, including the rope jumper's tally. The members of the team are Dawn Williams, Len Howard, Mark Wamsher, and Keith Kenkol. WEST HOKE'S TEAM-Here's West Hoke Schoo"s team which was a winnner, raising $257.85 of the school total of t677 i< r the lumo Rope for Heart campaign. The members are Stacy Daniels, Julie Jordan, Jan > Hughes, David Johnson, Leon McNeill and Tonita Kelly. G. Ivey Named To Honor Roll Gay Ivey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ivey of Raeford, has been named to the Bart Carolina University Ho? r ftol far the fall semester. She is a senior majoring in music education and is a Hoke County High School graduate.
