State House District 16 were
among the legislators who have
been assigned to House commit
tees for the 1983 session of the
General Assembly.
The district is composed of
Hoke, Scotland and Robeson
counties.
The appointments for State Rep.
Danny DeVane of Raeford are on
Appropriations, Justice and Public
Safety, Expansion Budget,
Cultural Resources, Health, and
Judiciary 11.
John Calvin (Pete) Hasty of
Robeson County has been named
to Finance, Judiciary III, and In
surance.
Sidney Locks, also of Robeson,
has been appointed to Agriculture,
Appropriations: Base Budget -
Human Resources, Expansion
Budget on Human Resources,
Commercial Fishing, Government
Ethics, Health, and Human
Resources.
All are Democrats.
State Sen. David Parnell of
Robeson, who represents the State
Senate Distroct of Hoke and
Robeson, has been named chair
man of the Senate Appropriations
Committee on General Govern- (
ment.
In the House, he was chairman i
of the committee corresponding to
the Senate committee he was pick
ed to head for the 1983 session.
Parnell also was named to these
Senate committee: vice chairman,

a female about a year old and is an
English bulldog type with brindle
color. She's at the Hoke County
Dog Pound, and William Hales,
county dog warden shown with
her, says she's good natured and
would make someone a good pet.
Anyone interested in adopting here
is advised to call Hales at the
County Health Department. The
pound also has dogs of all shapes,
sizes, sexes and ages who are adap
table and would make good pets.
