QPinecrest at Hoke, scheduled for
last Friday night, but eliminated by
bad weather, have been reschedul
ed for February 10. The Hoke
squads will play Lumberton's

In their lone games last week,
the Hoke boys defeated Reid Ross
66-53, but the Hoke girls lost,
48-42 to the Ross girls The games

The Buck wrestling team scored
a major victory by defeating con
ference opponent Reid Ross in a
match at Hoke High on Wednes
I day night.

The Bucks ran their season
record to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the
conference by defeating Ross by a
score of 50-23.
As has been the case all year,
Hoke's strength once again was
evident in the lightweight and
heavyweight divisions.
0 Hoke began the match with vic
tories to lead Ross by a score of
36-0 at the end of the sixth match.
Billy Locklear, at 100 pounds,
received a forfeit and then the next
five Hoke wrestlers (John Davis, at
107 pounds; Don Woods, at 114
were played in the Ross gym
The results of the Ross games,
played Jauuary 18, sent the Hoke
boys' mark for the season to 9-4
and the Hoke girls' to 7-4.
Parson said the Hoke boys
"played a real good game."
Greg Hollingsworth again led
the scoring, putting in 19 points,
followed by Freddy McLean with
17, and Gary Easterling with IS.
The other Hoke scorers were Terry
Thomas 7, John McDuffie and
George McLaurin 2 each, and
Tommy McRae 4.

Hoke's losses in the mid
dleweight divisions allowed Ross
to close the score to 36-15 before
Buck heavyweights closed out the
match.
Hoke's heavyweights were lead
by Orlando McKinnon, at 169
pounds, who pinned his opponent;
Darrell Kelly, at 187 pounds, who
wrestled to a tie; and Charles Mat
thews who pinned his opponent in
the unlimited division.
The next home match for the
Buck's will be against Lumberton
on February 1 at 7 p.m.
Wrecking Crew Tops Scurlock 84-77

January 17, the Wrecking Crew
defeated the Scurlock Tigers 84-77.
Scurlock Tigers hung tough for
the first three quarters before the
Wrecking Crew took command.
F. Barnes pumped in 18 points,
L. Ellerbee with 14, and D.
Lomack with 12 points were high
scorers for the Wrecking Crew. K.
Oones tossed in 25 points to lead
the Scurlock Tigers.
In the second game, the Silver
Hill Gang downed the 76ers 73-61.
Charles Chandle with 21 points
and G. Drawhorn with 16 led the
scoring attack for the Silver Hill
Gang 76ers were led by P. Black
with 14 points, D. Huff with 13,
and I Frahm with 12.
Senior's Tour
The World Golf Hall of Fame
and the Benevolent and Protec
tive Order of Elks have signed an
agreement to co-sponsor the up
coming Hall of Fame Senior PGA
Tour tournament.

The Silver Hill Gang ended the
night action by defeating the
Wrecking Crew 81-57. The Silver
Hill Gang was led by C. Chandler
with 19 points and J. Adams with
10. D. Lomack with 16 points, F.
Barnes with 10, and T. McPhatter
with 10 were high scorers for the
Wrecking Crew.
In Thursday night action, The
Suns defeated the Scurlock Tigers
98-40. W. Love led all scoring with
32 points for the Suns while D.
Leggett pumped in 19 to lead the
Scurlock Tigers.
To end the weeks action, the
Wrecking Crew defeated the All
Stars 91-75. D. Lomack with 26
points and L. Ellerbee scored 20
for the Wrecking Crew. G.
Maynor tossed in 32 and R.
Maynor scored 21 for the All
Stars.

Hoke Buckettes Beat Terry Sanford, W. Lee
The Hoke High ninth grade girls
Basketball team won two more
games last week bringing their
record to 10 wins and 1 loss.
In the first game of the week, the
second team played Terry Sanford
and won by a score of 27 to 19.
Lisa Bronson led the Buckettes
in scoring with eight points and six
rebounds.
Iris Beatty scored five points and
grabbed five rebounds.
Sonja McGregor and Vernorda
Southerland rebounded at the
scoring by scoring five points each.
In the second game of the week,
the Buckettes played host to West
Lee.
They beat the West Lee team 44
to 32. With the subs playing the
fourth quarter, the score became
closer.
The Buckettes had little trouble
with the Yellow Jackets to up their
record to 10 to 1.
Vernorda Southerland scored 15
pts. and grabbed seven rebounds
while Icesonnia Horsley scored 10
pts. and 13 rebounds.
Denise Gupton scored nine pts.
and grabbed 4 rebounds for the
Buckettes. The next home game is
against Reid Ross.
