Plummer of Goldsboro, attended the funeral services of their aunt, Mrs. Mabel F. Powell, Tuesday in Richmond, Va. Others attending were the Rev. and Mrs. Russel Knowles and Den nis Sullivan. Miss Powell who died at her home in Hoke County early Sun day morning, was a sister of the late Mrs. J.H. Plummer of Raeford. A memorial service was held at Parker's Chapel Monday morning at 1 1 o'clock. Mrs. Hodges Hostess At Super Bowl Parly Mrs. Jean Hodges extended her hospitality to friends and co workers when she entertained at a party celebrating the Super Bowl XVII, Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins, game last Sun day. Guests started arriving as ear ly as 4 p.m. to watch the review and await the game to be televised at 6 p.m. Before the kick-off time those present were invited to serve themselves at an informal buffet of a large variety of Mexican foods. The spectacular game viewed on television was enjoyed by an ex cited crowd, and as usual at the end, some happy and some sad, but all left for home with a warm feeling for the gracious hospitality of the hostess and fellowship of those present. Out of town guests were long time friends of Mrs. Hodges, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Priest of Lake Wac camaw, weekend guests in her home. Danny McPhaul of Waycross, Ga. is spending some time with his mother, Mrs. Hinton McPhaul. while his father is a patient at Moore Memorial Hospital. Mrs. John Glass left Monday to return to her home in West Palm Beach, Florida, after spending last week here in the home of her sister, Mrs. McPhaul. Miss Sarah Mitchell Coker, stu dent at East Carolina University, spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Coker. She was accompanied by classmates. Bridge Mrs. Scarborough Mrs. Jack Scarborough enter tained the members of her bridge dub and one visitor, Mrs. Ruth Morin, at her home on Tuesday evening of last week. Two bridge tables were set up for a dessert course upon arrival and bridge followed. High scorer was Mrs. George Ashley, and second high, Mrs. Morin. Both were awarded prizes. Snacks and drinks were served during play. Mrs. McFadyen Mrs. Duncan G. McFadyen was hostess to the members of her dessert bridge club on Tuesday afternoon of last week, with Mrs. Neill McFadyen and Mrs. Tommie Upchurch visitors. Those present were served a dessert course at the dining room table before the game. Recipients of high score prizes were Mrs. Herbert McKeithan, club member, and Mrs. McFad yen, visitor. During play mulled cider , cheese biscuits and home made fudge were served. Miss North Carolina Charm Pageant Making Plans The Miss North Carolina Charm Scholarship Pageant is looking for young ladies to represent their City at the upcoming State Finals to be held July 28-30th at Meredith Col lege in Raleigh. There are 5 age divisions: Little Miss (ages 4-6), Miss Ideal (7-9), Jr. Miss (10-12), Teen (13-16) and Miss (17-25). Each young lady will compete in a Private Interview, Talent and Evening gown. Over $5,000 in Scholarships. Prizes and Awards will be presented throughout the State Finals. The 5 Winners will have the opportunity to represent North Carolina at the National Finals where over S 20,000 in Scholarships and Prizes will be awarded. As a Youth Development Pro gram in its 7th year, it encourages community participation through civic and social organizations by giving of their time and talents to charitable functions. The Miss North Carolina Charm State Finals are presented to award scholarships, promote the cultural arts and to bring outstanding recognition to all participants. Each representative will be of ficially crowned and presented a trophy at the State Finals for her participation. The Second Annual N.C. Tiny Tot for girls ages 2-3, will be held on July 30th. Thompson Crowned Miss Cousinairs Lizzie Thompson was crowned Miss Cousinairs Sunday following the first Miss Cousinairs Pageant Sunday at J.W. Turlington School. Sharing the stage with the Cousinairs were the Happy Land Juniors. Miss Thompson is an employee of the House of Raeford and a member of Shady Grove Church of Wagram. She was crowned by David Purcell, Cousinairs of Raeford manager. She was presented roses and a cash prize by Mrs. Gloria Virgil of the commit tee. First runnerup was Jcanic McRae. and second runnerup. Irene Dockery. Tbe other con testants were Audrey Baldwin. Brenda Grace, Yvonne Miller. Vianet te Walker, Elaine Allen.
