Chaminade Club Holds Meeting
The Chaminade Music Club met
last Tuesday evening in the home of
Mrs. Neill A. McNeill with Mrs.
Mary Brown, Mrs. William Colston
and Mrs. Stephen McNeill as
co-hostesses.
The meeting was called to order
by the president. Mrs. Julian King.
After the singing of the Federation
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Harris had as
their weekend guests Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Harris and children of
Durham and Tom Harris of Fay
etteville.
Mr. and Mrs. Avery Connell spent
the weekend in Raleigh. They went
especially for the father-daughter
dance at Peace College Saturday
evening. Mr. Connell escorted
Miss Carolyn Wilburn to the
dance.

Austin, and the praying of the club
collect, Mrs. Neill McNeill, pro
gram chairman presented the hymn
of the month, "In The Hour of
Trial" which was sung by the club.
Mrs. McNeill introduced the
guest artists Mrs. Diane Guthrie,
soprano, and piano accompanist.
Ms. Joy Cogswell, both of Fay
etteville. Opera selections from the
four main periods in music history:
Baroque, classic, romantic and
modern periods were artistically
presented and performed by Mrs.
Guthrie. Mrs. Cogswell played
selections from Brahms and Cho
pin.
Delicious refreshments were
served from a beautiful appointed
table carrying out the Valentine
motif.

At Shower
Mrs. Mike Wood was honored
with a stork shower Sunday after
noon February 14, at the home of
Mrs. David Currie. Hostesses were
Mrs. Lawrence Willis and Mrs.
Paul BratTord.
The refreshment table was
covered with a lace cloth and
centered with pink candles and an
arrangement of pink silk flowers.
Guests were served cake decorated
in a baby motif which was baked
by Mrs. Milo Postel.
Mrs. Bill Moses served coffee.

Mr. And Mrs. Huff Honored
On Thirly-Seventh Anniversary

Family members, childhood
friends and acquaintances of many
years were invited to join Mr. and
Mrs. D.R. Huff for the celebration
of their anniversary on Friday
t.vening, Febiuary 11.
The gala affair was hosted by
Mr. Huff and planned as a surprise
fot his bride of 37 years, formerly
Emma Sinclair, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. N.F. Sinclair.
Approximately 250 guests
gatheied at the Hoke County Civic
Center and anxiously awaited the
arrival of the Huffs. Shortly after
ward Mr. Huff made a very
touching speech and told that they
had been sweethearts since the First
grade in school, and from then on
they were known as "Emmy and
Junior." He praised his wife for
her devotion to him throughout
the years and stated that they have
fiv e sons and how proud he and his
wife are of them.
Four sons, Ralph, Randy, Ricky
and Rusty were present, along with
Ralph's wife, the former Linda
Baker, and Randy's wife, the
former Kathy Reaton. Ronnie
resides in Atlanta and could not be
present, but the register table was
adorned with a dozen red roses
sent by him.
Guests served themselves from
an abundance of food. The table.

surrounded by pearls.

affair. \
White candles and smilax were
used on tables, covered with white
cloths, for seating the guests.
Music for dancing was presented
by Troy and "The Viscos" band
from Aberdeen.

Miss Ellen Currie was hostess to
the members of her bridge club on
Tuesday evening of last week.
A dessert course in the Valentine
motif was served before the game,
cokes and nuts during play.
Mrs. Carlton Niven was high
score winner.
