Scarborough ) Heart Drive Slated For Sunday Here r--u ? ~ ?? ... Each year on the last Sunday in February, doorbells ring all over the nation as more than 2 million volunteers visit their neighbors to leave educational materials and ask for contributions to the Heart Fund. Heart Sunday in Raeford is next Sunday, February 27, according to Mrs. Gloria Williams, Heart Sun day Chairman for the Hoke Coun ty Heart Association. "The Heart Association has been fighting for thirty years to stem the tide of cardiovascular disease, and it is only in the last Five years that we have seen the tide begin to turn," said Williams. "Although it still kills more people than all other causes combined, the death rate from heart and blood vessel disease began declining in 1978 and has continued down. Many medical scientists have ex pressed their opinions that the drop is due in large part to the research, professional and public education, and medical and com munity programs supported by the Heart Fund," she continued, "and we want to give everyone a chance to contribute to this life-saving work." Heart Sunday volunteers will be collecting donations this Sunday, most assigned in their own neighbors, Williams said. Mrs. Williams is the Head of the Guidance Department at Hoke County High School. Since 1971 she has taught Adult Basic Education through Sandhills Community College, and been the Coordinator of Adult High School. She and her husband have three children, two girls and one boy. 1 5 02. VICKS jVapoRub WHY PAY _ ? 1.07? VapORUfi BONUS BUT 1" VICKS Formula 44 3 oz. WHY MY 3. OS? BONUS 1 69 BUT I 6 oz.
