Mrs. (iarlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Stuart-Jones Wedding Vows Spoken Saturday Mary Lou Jones of Raeford and Steven Roy Stuart of Fayetteville were married Saturday, March 26, at 2:30 p.m. in a double ring ceremony, at the Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Church. The Reverend Wesley Cribb, of ficiated. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Sadie Holliday of Raeford. The groom is the son of Grover C. Stuart of Fayetteville and Elaine Doby of Catlett, Virginia. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Earlie McNeill Jones. The groom's best man was Bob by Ray Hammonds, Jr. of Raeford. Immediately following the wed ding a reception was held at the home of the bride's sister-in-law, Brenda Fay Jones. Mrs. Jones is a 1981 graduate of Hoke County High School. Mr. Jones is a 1970 graduate of Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Miss Winchester Is Feted At Bridal Parties Miss Patricia Wincester, May bride-elect of Charles Crowder, was feted at two bridal parties last week. Saturday afternoon, March 26, Mrs. Deborah Bullard, Mrs. D.L. Minshew, both of Raeford, and Mrs. Janie Proctor of Rocky Mount, entertained at the Bullard home, with a floating miscellaneous shower. Guests were invited from 2:00-4:00. Approximately twenty people attended. Bridal cake squares, mints, nuts, cheese nuggets and punch were served. The honoree was presented a corsage upon arrival, a dinner plate in her chosen pattern and a centerpiece arrangement of silk flowers by the hostesses. She also received other useful gifts from guests attending. Friday evening, March 25, Miss Winchester, was honored at the home of Mrs. T.B. Lester, with Mrs. W.T. Gibson, co-hostess. Friends and contemporaries of the bride-elect were invited for a dessert party and get-together. The Lester home was tastefully decorated for the occasion. The dining table, covered with a white Army-Navy cloth, was centered with an arrangement of spring flowers, topped with a miniature engagement ring and wedding band centered in a ring of white net. After a dessert course was serv ed, the honoree was presented a gift of china and a painting by Mrs. Lester from the hostesses. Miss Patricia Winchester was honored at a luncheon March 19 at 1:00 p.m at the home of Mrs. Alfred Leach. Co-hostess for the occasion was Miss Kathy Leach of Durham. Places were laid for twelve in the dining area and at individual tables in the living room. Guests were served a three course meal at tables covered with white linen and centered with ar rangements of mixed spring flowers. He is employed by Kelly Springfield Tire- Company in Fayetteville. Personals Mrs. Hubert Wooten and Mrs. Walter Bostic spent several days last week in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jean Hodges left this week for Fort Worth, Texas, for a visit in the home of her mother, Mrs. Ben M. Hardin, who is a patient at a hospital there. Mr., and Mrs. Jake Austin and Tony Austin have returned after a trip to St. Petersburg, Florida. Josh and Jay Pate are visiting in the home of their father and step mother, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Pate. Mrs. Michael Matagi and son, Robbie, left last week to join her husband, Sgt. Matagi, stationed at Auschwenburg Army Base, near Frankfurt, Germany. They plan to be there for the next three years. Mrs. Matagi is the former Ginger Teal, daughter of Mrs. Raymond Teal. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Phillips and children Brad and Brooke, of Asheboro, spent Thursday night with his mother, Mrs. W.C. Phil lips. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips were enroute to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Brad spent the weekend with his cousins. Bill and Bart Upchurch and Brooke stayed with her grandmother, Mrs. Bill Up church. They ail returned to Ashe boro on Sunday night. Mrs. Claytie Maxwell of Rock ingham visited Mrs. Fleeta Max well several days the first of the week. Betty De Palmer of Hampstead, Maryland, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Thames and her sister, Mary Parker, this week. Miss Averitt, Bride-elect Feted On Saturday Miss Charlene Averitt, bride elect was honored Saturday, March 26 at the home of Mrs. Jesse Peoples. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Peoples' daughter, Mrs. Rodney Wright, of Garner, Mrs. Katie Margaret Childress, and daughter, Debra. Twenty-five guests attended the floating shower from 3:00 till 5:00 p.m. Miss Averitt was presented a corsage of daisies and a gift of china in her chosen pattern by the hostesses. The refreshment table, covered with a white linen and lace tablecloth, was centered with an arrangement of spring flowers. Guest served themselves from a variety of finger foods and fruit punch. Out of town guests were Mrs. Gentry Arnette of Dillon, Ms. Pat Narron of Wilson, and Mrs. Henry Hicks of Candor. Bridge Mrs. Ashley Mrs. George Ashley was hostess to the members of her bridge club Friday night of last week. Mrs. William McDonald was the only visitor. A dessert course was served before the game, snacks and drinks, during play. Prizes were given to Mrs. Julian King, high scorer, and Mrs. Hank Richards, consolation. Mrs. McPhaul Mrs. J.W. McPhaul was hostess to the members of her bridge club Thursday evening of last week. Mrs. Paul Burnett was the only visitor. A dessert course was served before the game. At the conclusion of play. Mrs. John Campbell was high scorer. Mrs. Houston Mrs. Terry Houston entertained the members of her bridge club, Thursday, March 17. Two tables of members were served a dessert course before bridge. McKenzie Couple Honored On Fortieth Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. H.A. McKenzie were honored on their fortieth wedding anniversary at their home on Route 1 Shannon Saturday evening. Hosting the occasion were their children. Miss Joyce McKen zie of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Robert Gardner of Charlotte, Tim and Hugh McKenzie, both of the home. Friends and relatives gathered for the occasion and celebration. The honored couple are both Hoke Mrs. Robin Lowe and Mrs. Albert Dearing ol Canada were recent visitors in the homes of their sisters, Mrs. Jack Pittman and Mrs. Charlie H. Smith. Visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Allen last week were their sons. Sgt. Michael Allen and son. Jim. of Hampton, Virginia, and David D. Allen of Miami. They came especially to visit after their mother had returned home from Womack Hospital after undergoing surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Burkhard returned last week after a trip to Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gatlin have returned after a visit with their son-in-law and daughter. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Martin Beach, and fami ly in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The Beach family left Fort Bragg the latter part of November for Fort Sill. County natives, Mrs. McKenzie being the former Magdalene Sides. An arrangement of roses, chrysanthemums and carnations, in red and white, centered the din ing table, flanked by lighted white tapers. A white lace cloth over red was used on the table. Ar rangements of mixed flowers adorned other tables used in the entertaining rooms. The three-tiered wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Mckenzie's sisters, Mrs. Christine Croft of Aberdeen and Mrs. Henry Harding of Fayetteville. Punch was served by Mr. McKenzie's sisters.
