Recreation Bits Karate Class The Tae Kwon Do Karate class sponsored by Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission will meet in the Parks and Recreation office on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-7 p.m. For more information, please call the office at 875-5603. Jr. Tar Heel Baseball (Note Correction) The Parks and Recreation Commission is organizing a Junior Tar-Heel Baseball League for all interested participants ages 13-15. Players eligible are those whose 15th birthday comes on or after August 1, or those whose 13th birthday comes on or before August 1. The sign-up will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 9 a.m., at Upchurch Baseball Field. All potential players must bring their birth certificates even though they have participated in a Parks and Recreation sponsored athletic program prior. We are preparing for four teams in this year's league. All sign-ups will be on a first come first serve basis. Little League Baseball All boys and girls interested in participating in LittlajLeague this summer will meet at Armory Park on Saturday, May 14, at the following times: 10 year olds at 9:00 a.m., 11 year olds at 10:00 a.m., and 12 year olds at 1 1 :00 a.m. To be eligible you must turn 13 on or after August 1 ,1983. All potential players must bring their birth certificates even though they have participated in a Parks and Recreation sponsored athletic program prior. T-Ball To Start All boys and girls interested in playing T-League baseball this summer should meet at the J.W. Turlington School field on Saturday, May 14 at the following times: 7 and 8 year olds 1 p.m., and 9 year olds at 2 p.m To be eligible for T-Ball all players must turn 7 before August J, and must turn 10 on or after August 1. All potential players must bring their birth certificate even though they have par ticipated in a Parks and Recreation sponsored event prior. Program Ideas The Parks and Recreation Commission is looking for new program ideas. If you have any suggestions of programs you would like to see offered, please contact the Parks and Recrea tion office at 5-5603. Co-Ed Softball The Parks and Recreation Commission is planning a co-ed softball league for adults and/or youth. If you are interested please call the Recreation office at 5-5603 and give us your opi nions or suggestions. Little League and T-Ball Coaches There will be a meeting for all interested Little League and T-Ball coaches at the Hoke County Parks and Recreation office on Monday, May 9, 7:30 p.m. All suggestions and new ideas are :ncouraged. Baseball Clinic - Little League Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission will sponsor a Little League Baseball Clinic on Saturday, May 28, at Armory Park from 9 a.m. to noon. All boys and girls ages 10, 1 1 and 12 who are interested in playing Little League Ball are encouraged to participate. Roger Edward, Hoke High School's Baseball Coach, will direct the clinic. Jr. Tar Heel Baseball Clinic The Parks and Recreation Commission will sponsor a Jr. Tar Heel Baseball Clinic on Saturday, May 21 at the Hoke High Baseball Field, from 9 a.m. -12 noon. All boys and girls ages 13, 14 and 15 who are interested in playing Jr. Tar Heel Baseball are encouraged to participate. Roger Edward, Hoke High's Baseball Coach will direct the clinic. Liniment Softball Meeting Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission will hold an organizational Meeting for the Men's Liniment Softball League ages 30-up on Wednesday, May 1 1 at the Parks and Recreation office at 7 p.m. All interested teams should have a representative present. Ladies' Softball Meeting Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission will hold an organizational meeting for the Women's Softball League ages 16-up on Wednesday, May 1 1 at the Parks and Recreation office at 7:30 p.m. All interested teams should have a representative present. Jr. Tar-Heel Coaches Meeting There will be a meeting for all interested Jr. Tar-Heel Baseball coaches at the Hoke County Parks and Recreation office on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. All suggestions and new ideas are encouraged. Co-ed Volleyball The Parks and Recreation Commission will offer a Co-Ed Volleyball League for interested teams and individuals. There will be an organizational meeting on Thursday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Recreation office. To be eligible you must be a high school graduate and up, or age equivalent. Each team will be limited to 12 members. Com petition will involve teams of at least 3 females and 3 males. In terested teams must have a representative present. If you are in terested in playing, but are not a member of a team, you are en couraged to attend the meeting also.
