cup a soup
In medium skillet, melt butter and
brown chops. Add vegetables,
basil and instant cream of
mushroom soup mix blended with
water. Simmer covered 45 minutes
or until chops and vegetables are
tender. Makes about 2 servings.
?Substitution: Use canned or
frozen green beans; add during last
10 minutes of cooking. Note:
Recipe can be doubled.
SINGLE SWISS QUICHE
1 slice white bread
Yi cup light cream or half and half
1 envelope onion cup a soup
2 eggs, beaten
Vi cup shredded swiss cheese
(about 1 Vi oz.)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Into
bottom of 2 cup casserole or
ramekin, press bread; toast. Mean
while, in medium bowl,
thoroughly blend remaining ingre
dients. Pour into casserole, bake 5
minutes. Reduce oven to 350
degrees and bake an additional 20
minutes or until quiche tests done.
Makes 1 serving.
MICROWAVE: Prepare toast
"crust" as above. Add blended re
maining ingredients and heat
covered 4 to 5 minutes, stirring oc
casionally. Let stand covered 2
minutes or until set.
SUNSHINY CREAMED PEAS
1 envelope cream of chicken cup a
soup
Vi cup hot cooked peas
Vi teaspoon grated lemon or
orange peel*
Vi cup boiling water
In small bowl blend all ingredients
except peas. Serve over peas. Gar
nish if desired, with additional
lemon peel. Makes about 1 serv
ing.
?Variation: Use 1/8 teaspoon mar
joram, rosemary or sage.
CURRY IN A HURRY FOR ONE
1 teaspoon butter or margarine
Vj cup water
1 envelope onion cup a soup
Vi teaspoon curry powder
Vj cup hot cooked rice
1 chicken breast half (about Vi
lb.), skinned, boned and cut into
thin strips0
1 envelope cream of chicken cup a
soup
Vi cup chopped apple
In small skillet, melt butter and
brown chicken. Add water and br
ing to a boil; stir in instant onion
and cream of chicken flavor soup
mixes, curry and apple. Simmer 5
minutes or until chicken is tender.
Serve over rice and garnish, if
desired, with apple slices, coconut,
raisins or chopped peanuts. Makes
1 serving. 'Variation: Use l/?
pound tip or round steak, V* inch
thick, cut into thin strips. Note:
Recipe can be doubled. Do not
double curry powder. Microwave:

and cook covered 4 to 5 minutes or

1 chicken breast half (about '/: lb.)
skinned, boned and pounded*
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 envelope cream of mushroom
cup a soup
1 slice swiss cheese
1 slice cooked ham
Dash Nutmeg
V* cup boiling water
Hot cooked noodles
Top chicken with cheese and ham;
roll up and secure with wooden
toothpicks. In small skillet, melt
butter and brown chicken; add
nutmeg and instant cream of
mushroom soup mix blended with
water. Simmer covered, basting
occasionally, 20 minutes or until
chicken is tender. Serve over
noodles. Makes about 1 serving.
?Substitution: Use 1 veal cutlet
(about Va lb.) pounded.
TASTY TUNA MELT
1 can (3 Vi oz.) tuna drained and

1 envelope cream of chicken cup a
soup
Sliced American cheese
'/* cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
?/i cup boiling water
1 English muffin, halved and
toasted
In small bowl combine tuna,
celery, onion and instant cream of
chicken flavor soup mix blended
with water. Spoon onto muffin
halves, top with cheese. Broil until
cheese is r elted. Makes about I
serving.
