The sermon: "Meaning of Bap tism" by the pastor Rev. Foster. The Baptistry was used Sunday for the first time in more than 25 years with seven candidates for baptism. There was good attendance for this impressive worship service. Visitors were Mrs. Lois Coliins and Ernie Collins. Monday night the young women met with Mrs. Debbie Chason. Lumber Bridge News by Lib Saaaer On Thursday night at 7:30 the Women's Missionary Union will hold the monthly meeting with Mrs. Oracle Hopkins. Volunteers are needed for Vaca tion Bible School which will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Rex. The date will be announced later. Mrs. Jean Thompson is in charge of the arrangement. Members of the Women's Mis sionary Union attended a luncheon and Round Table Discussion at the home of Mrs. Henry L. Foster on Wednesday. Six guests were seated at the din ing table, covered with white cloth and centered with mixed spring flowers. Lemonade and a salad course was served by the hostess. Presbyterian Church The 100th anniversary obser vance of the Women of the Church of Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church, Sunday, May 29 at 11 a.m. Congregations of Parkton, Rex and Lumber Bridge Baptist Church have been invited to attend this celebration. The speaker, Mrs. W. Kempor Fitch, wife of the pastor of Bethel and Shiloh Presbyterian Churches and a past president of the Fayet teville Presbytery Women of the Church. Dr. Robert K. Gustafson will be host pastor. Career Awareness Day First Sgt. Arrington demonstrates some of the equipment he uses as part of his job to some students during Career A wareness Day at West Hoke School on May 29. The event, which was sponsored by the Cultural Enrichment Committee, culminated the Career Awareness Program in which the school has been Involved this year.
