St. Andrews Garners
4th President's Cup
St. Andrews Presbyterian Col
lege continued in 1982-83 its
domination of Dixie Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference sports.
For the fourth straight year, the
Knights' program has been award
ed the league's Presidents' Cup.
The Presidents' Cup award
originated in an effort to en
courage participation in
conference-sponsored sports.
Points are awarded based on the
teams' final standings in con
ference sports.
St. Andrews won the 'men's
basketball championship, was se
cond in cross country, track and
women's tennis, and was fourth in
women's volleyball, women's
basketball, women's softball and
men's baseball. In all, the Knights
accumulated 60.5 points.
"We are proud to be able to
keep the Presidents' Cup another
year," said St. Andrews Athletic
Director Julian Smith. "It has
become a regular fixture in our
trophy case."
St. Andrews is the award's only
recipient in the four-year history of
the competition.
