^^G-eLcJL Mrs. Carlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Mr. And Mrs. Younger Snead Celebrate 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Younger Snead were honored on their fiftieth wed ding anniversary, Sunday, June . 12. Hosts were their children and spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Younger Snead, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. John Goller of Greensboro. The celebration took place at the poolside at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Younger Snead, Jr. Surroun ding the pool were beautiful spring flowers in pink, yellows and greens. It was a lovely setting for the outdoor drop-in during the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Younger Snead Refreshments were served from an appointed table, appropriately decorated, near the pool. Many friends and relatives call ed to share the occasion with the honored couple. Among the out of town Snead relatives coming for the celebra tion were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Snead, Red Springs. Mrs. Jewel Snead Klouse and friend Hazel Wintzer, Myrtle Beach, and Mrs. Dora Snead Chapman, Aberdeen. Miss Lee Wilson, Debutante, Honored Miss Lee Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wilson of Fayetteville, one of eleven young women from Fayetteville to make their bow before society at the 57th annual North Carolina Debutante Ball at the Raleigh Civic Center, ? September 9, was honoree at a par ty given at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Poole, Saturday evening, July 9. Co-hosting the affair were the honoree's parents. Bob Wilson is Managing Editor of The Fayet teville Observer, and Mrs. Wilson is the former Elizabeth Graham, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arch Graham of Raeford. & The Poole home was decorated throughout with roses. The dining table and tables on the patio were centered with ar rangements of wild flowers, and laden with a variety of foods. Guests served themselves from the buffet. Blooming plants also decorated the patio. Dancing was enjoyed throughout the evening. ) Approximately 60 guests en joyed the gala event. Seven debs and their dates from Fayetteville were present, among others from Fayetteville and Raeford. Miss Nona Robinson of Asheboro, was a weekend guest in the Poole home and here for the occasion. Special guests were LTC (Ret.) and Mrs. C.P. Flanigan of Fayetteville. P Miss Wilson will enter her sophomore year at Peace College, Raleigh, this fall. Her assistant marshall will be John Kelly of Fayetteville, son of Mrs. Richard Kelly, and the late Dr. Kelly of Fayetteville. The hosts presented the honoree a corsage and a scrapbook to keep records of the September 8-10 festivities for the statewide debutante ball, sponsored by the Terpsichorean Club, and the string of weekend parties across the state. Fowler Family Has Picnic At GatlinPona Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fowler and family joined Sunday by members of Mr. Fowler's family for a get together and picnic at the Robert Gatlin pond. Attending from out of town were Mr. Fowler's father, P.D. Fowler, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Fowler, and members of their family, all of Lumberton. The occasion was in honor of Bud Tyndall, owner of Westwood Pet Shop in Fayet teville, and a partner of Mrs. Hodges in Pet Promotions, Inc. Guests from Fayetteville and Raeford gathered for the fellowship and delicious food. Socials 875-2121 Edwards - Adams Couple Exchanges Wedding Vows Miss Mary Evelyn Adams, daughter of Euclid G. Adams and the late Mrs. Adams of Laurin burg, and Roger Dale Edwards, son of Mrs. John R. Edwards and the late Mrs. Edwards of Roseboro, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony, Sun day, July 17, at 2:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Laurinburg. The Reverend Ben H. Wilson, III, officiated. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Louise Leach, organist, and Mrs. Betty Aldridge, soloist. Mrs. Aldridge sang "Song of Ruth", and "Wed ding Prayer". The altar of the church was centered with mixed white flowers, flanked by white tapers in brass candelabras. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of silk organza over taffeta with Venice lace shaping the empire bodice. Queen Ann neckline and bishop sleeves were trimmed with small organza ruffles. The A-line skirt was circle flounced with a ruf fle extending into chapel train. The matching two-tiered veil of im ported silk illusion, trimmed with Venice lace, was attached to her pearl beaded cap. She carried a white Bible topped with a white or chid and white stephanotis. Miss Nancy Adams, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a white silk blouse and a deep rose linen skirt, accented with deep aqua sash, and carried a casual bouquet of white daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Henriet ta Adams, sister of the bride, Wilson; Mrs. Emily Aberle, cousin of the bride, Asheville; Mrs. Betty Cadick, High Point; Mrs. Becky McKeithan, Laurinburg; and Mrs. Margaret Ledford, Hope Mills. They wore costumes and carried flowers identical to the maid of honor. Thomas F. Jones of Wagram served as best man. Ushers were Kent Edwards and Michael Ed wards. brothers of the groom, Roseboro; Frank Adams, cousin of the bride, Wadesboro; Walter Barnhill, Raeford; . and Steve Hagen, Red Springs. He is employed by the Hoke County School System as a teacher-coach at Hoke County High School. Fulk Family Has 9th Reunion Members of the Fulk family gathered on July 10 for their ninth annual reunion. They met at the Fellowship Building at Community United Methodist Church near Five Points with seventy-six family members attending. After the meal, groups posed for pictures. There were twelve members present plus Jack Knowles, Field Representative from Fayetteville, and three prospective members. Mary Ruth Haire presided over the business portion of the meeting in the absence of President Ruby Conoly who \*asunable to attend due to illness. A 50-year membership pin was presented to Mrs. Wimzy Lundy by Field Representatives Knowles. Mr. and Mrs. Mac McKeithan, Saturday evening, July 16, at the Scottish Shrine Club, Laurinburg. An arrangement of white daisies centered the head table. All other tables had hurricane globes with brass candlesticks and lighted tapers. The buffet table was decorated in the same fashion. The bridal party and out of town guests enjoyed a buffet dinner of chicken imperial with ham, green rice, corn, baked apples, asparagus casserole, butterbeans, vegetable tray and spinach salad. Strawberry shortcake was served for dessert. BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON The bridesmaids luncheon at 12 noon, July 16, was held at the Gill House, Laurinburg. Hostesses were Mrs. Betty Cedrick, Mrs. Ed na White, Mrs. Margaret Ledford, and Mrs. Eleanor Parrish. Special out-of-town guests were Miss Evelyn Kilpatrick, aunt of the bride and Mrs. John R. Edwards, mother of the groom. Personals E-4 and Mrs. Danny Lee and two children of the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Spr ings, arrived Sunday for a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee and Mrs. Jean Hodges. Benton and Dellus Hodges return ed home with them after spending the past month in the Lee home. Jim Stephens, Mrs. Fleeta Maxwell and Mrs. Claytie Maxwell returned last week after a tour of western North Carolina and points of in terest in Tennessee. They visited Mrs. Fleeta Maxwell's brother-in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Over ton in Franklin during the time.
