Dove Hunters Should Buy Licenses Now Dove hunting season opens on Saturday, September 3 at 12-noon. Hunters can save a lot of trouble by picking up a license now -- in stead of waiting until the morning when the season opens, a spokesman for the state wildlife department said. "Many sportsmen wait until the last minute before buying their hunting license, and this occa sionally causes some problems," said Debbie Paul, assistant to the director of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. "An agent may be temporarily out of licenses because of a last minute rush, or may have a line of license customers backed up. Therefore, we urge sportsmen to buy their licenses early -- or to con sider buying one of our lifetime hunting and fishing licenses," he said. Several categories of lifetime licenses are available, and applica tions may be obtained from license agents or Wildlife Commission employees. McLean Completes Basic Training Pvt. John H. The game was played before a crowd of about 75 spec tators. According to Bucks head football coach Tom Jones, the scrimmage against Pine Forest was both a good and bad show. , "Generally, I thought we played good, but I was dissatisfied with some areas of our play," Jones said. "Our boys showed real aggressiveness out there, and I was very pleased with that, but we made way too many penalties," Jones said. According to Jones, the "stupid penalties" his team made during the scrimmage could hurt a club during the season. "The kind of penalties we were making could kill us during a real game," Jones said. The coach also seemed a little "dissatisfied" about his team's tackling ability. "I think they were using their hands to tackle and you can't do that," Jones said. Although Jones appeared critical about his team's efforts he readily admitted that overall he was pleased with his team. "It is really difficult to get a good feel for what your team can really do during a scrimmage game," Jones said. "We have to work so many people that you can't get a good look at your team," Jones added. Jones hopes that practice will work out the mistakes that he saw during Tuesday's scrimmage so that the Bucks will be ready for their first home game against South View. That game will be played at the Hoke High football field Friday September 2 at 8 p.m. THE TOYOTAS ARE IN Toyota of Fayette ville Formerly Carr Toyota New Toyotas are arriving daily by the truck load at Toyota of Fayetteville.
