Joint Meeting
The members of Unit 6179,
Camp 118, Rangeretts, and
Rangers met at the Woodmen
Lodge Tuesday, September 13,
with approximately 100 people in
attendance. Prior to the meeting, a
covered dish supper was served.
Guest speaker for the occasion
was Mrs. Sarah Stainback, State
Q Secretary, who gave a very inform
ative and inspirational talk.
Other guests who also spoke to the
group were Harvey Bedsole, East
N.C. State Manager; Earl Hughes,
Fraternal Coordinator; David
Reich, Jr., Highland Area
Manager; and Jack Knowles, Field
Representative.

of Wagram, was the meeting place
for a reunion of the Leslie-McKoy
families, on September 17. More
than one hundred people were pre
sent. Out-of-town guests were

N.Y., Wesley Leslie, Jr., of Car
thage, Mrs. Saundera Downs,
Mrs. Christine Thomas, little Miss

ed in time to witness her aunt's,

sermon. Miss Leslie was a guest in
the homes of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Tim McPhatter, her aunt,
Mrs. Ella M. McGregor, and her
grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Leslie.

Johnson and his wife, Lillian, of

Miss Clark, Mr. Requard Pledge
Wedding Vows Here Saturday
Martha Shaw Clark, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther
Wilson Clark, and John Jacob Re
quard. III of Baltimore,
Maryland, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Jacob Requard, Jr. were
united in marriage on Saturday,
September 24 at 6:00 in a
candlelight service at The Raeford
Presbyterian Church. Dr. John C.
Ropp officiated at the double ring
ceremony.
A program of wedding music
was presented by organist, Ashley
Burrell and vocalist, Ken Koonce.
Mr. Koonce sang "The Wedding
Prayer" and "The Lord's
Prayer." The wedding was
directed by Mrs Reid Childress,
aunt of the bride.
The church was decorated with a
basket of white flowers on the
Communion table. Caldelabra and
greenery were used on the altar.
Eight candles with hurricane
lanterns and greenery were used
along the sides of the church. Dur
ing the ceremony, a unity candle
was also lit' on the Communion
table.
The bride, escorted by her
brother-in-law, Jim McPhaul,
wore a formal candlelight gown of
original design created of sheer
ivory organza and Venice lace,
posed over faille taffeta. The rais
ed bodice was styled with a Vic
torian neckline edged with a ruffle
of lace. The tucked bodice
featured a band of lace on each
side. The full Bishop sleeve was
also trimmed with the same bands
of lace and capped with a wide
border of Venice lace, and banded
with a lace ruffle. The gathered
skirt was attached to a border of
Venice lace interposed with a band
of satin ribbon.
The cathedral length veil
featured a full length mantilla of
imported ivory English illusion,
bordered in matching Venice lace.
She carried a bouquet of
candlelight silk roses, lavender
violets, stephanotis, and antique
candlelight lace.
Miss Susan Townsend of
Raleigh was the maid-of-honor.
Her orchid dress of organza
fashioned a Victorian neckline
edged with a band of lace. The
sheer bodice featured an off the
shoulder crystal pleated valence,
forming a cape-like effect to the
waist. The natural waistline
featured a satin ribbon belt with
streamers which extended the
length of the long skirt. She carried
a bouquet of lavender, pink, and
white mixed flowers with
candlelight lace streamers.
Bridesmaids, wearing gowns and
carrying bouquets identical to that
of the honor attendant's, were
Suzanne Clark of Raleigh, cousin
of the bride, Jennifer Spann of
Rocky Mount and Cynthia Sutton
of Greenville.
John J. Requard, Jr. served as
his son's best man. He wore a
formal black stroller with
candlelight shirt. Groomsmen were
Ken Clark of Fayetteville, brother
of the bride. Chuck Baker of
Southern Pines, brother-in-law of
the bride. Buddy Moser of
Baltimore, Maryland, cousin of
the groom, and Dan Martel and
Dave Ursin, also of Baltimore,
Maryland. Jay McPhaul served as
ring bearer for his aunt.
The bride's sister wore an aqua
Mrs. John Jacob Requard, III
dress of sheer crepe dechine. The
groom's mother wore a lilac silk
dress. They both wore rosebud
corsages.
The bride attended East
Carolina University. The groom is
a graduate of Loyola University in
Baltimore, Maryland. He is
presently the National Program
Director of the International
Medical Eye Bank, Inc.
After spending the night at the
Pinehurst Hotel, the couple left for
Los Angelos, California where
they will reside. For travel after the
ceremony, the bride chose a multi
colored silk dress with navy ac
cessories and a rosebud corsage.
RECEPTION
Following the ceremony, guests
were entertained at a reception in
the church fellowship hall. Hosts
were Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Baker,
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Clark, Ms.
Frances Danella, and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim McPhaul. Guests were
greeted by Dr. and Mrs. R.G.
Townsend.
The church fellowship hall was
decorated throughout with
greenery and candles. The recep
tion table was centered with a mix
ed flower arrangement with white
tapers in a five branch silver
candelabra. The five tiered wed
ding cake was decorated with a
fresh mixed Hower arrangement on
top and flowers and greenery en
circlcd the bottom. The cake was
served by Mrs. Doug Clark and
Mrs. John McPhaul. Punch was
poured by Mrs. Edith Moser and
Mrs. J. A. Farmer. The
refreshments along with wedding
cake and punch, included cheese
flowers, nuts, homemade mints,
chicken salad puffs, assorted fruits
in a melon boat, and a fresh
vegetable tray with dips.

Lisa Dark of Siler City. Good-byes
were said by Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Bingay of Winston Salem. Tea
girls for the reception were Miss
Amy Archer, Miss Beth Archer,
and Miss Priscilla Carson.
REHEARSAL DINNER
Following the rehearsal, the
wedding party was entertained at a
dinner at 8:00 in the Fellowship
Hall of the Raeford Presbyterian
Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Ed
die Baker, Mrs. Ralph Huff, Mrs.
Julian Johnson, Mrs. Neil McFa
dyen, Jr. and Mrs. Bobby Wright.
Places for 43 guests were laid.
The head table was covered with a
white cloth, a centerpiece of white
bridal flowers and greenery with
candles in hurricane globes. The
same decorations were used on all
the tables and throughout the
room.
The buffet meal consisted of
chicken breast supreme, steaming
rice in chicken broth, green pea
casserole, sweet potato souffle,
marinated carrots, assorted con
gealed salads, a relish tray, hot
homemade rolls, lemon tarts, and
iced tea.
WEDDING BRUNCH
On Sunday, September 25, the
bride's family along with Mr. and
Mrs. John W. McPhaul and Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Bingay entertained
with a brunch at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jim McPhaul. Family
members and out-of-town guests
were served a variety of quiches,
breads with jams, ham biscuits,
Moravian sugar cake, fruit and
cheese with coffee and juices.
BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON
On Saturday at 1 1 : 30 aunts and
cousins of the bride, Mrs. Reid
Childress, Mrs. J. A. Farmer, Mrs.
J.C. McKenzie, Mrs. Henry Hicks,
and Mrs. David Farmer, entertain
ed the bride and her attendants
with a luncheon at the Gill House
in Laurinburg. Chicken salad,
potato salad, broccoli with cheese
sauce and hot rolls were served
with iced tea. For dessert, hot ap
ple pie with ice cream and coffee
were served.
Miss Clark presented her atten
dants with their gifts. She was
presented a corsage of silk orchids
and a gift of canisters in her
stoneware pattern by the hostesses.

At 12 noon on Saturday the
groom, his groomsmen, and out
of-town guests were fed at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Archer.
Also hosting the dinner were Marie
C. Brown and Deborah F. Davis.
Guests were invited into the kit
chen for a buffet of a club sand
wich, potato salad, congealed
salad, chips, pound cake,
brownies, and iced tea. They were
then seated on the terrace. Mr. Re
quard chose this occasion for
presenting his attendants with their
gifts.
