Last Saturday marked the first meeting of the newly re-formed 401 troop. "We had 18 out of 25 boys to show up for the first meeting. It looks like there will be more than that coming to the next meetings," Cumston said. "Everything is looking fantastic at this point. Everyone is extremely eager for this to work out," Cumston added. The scout troop, which has been supported by the Raeford Kiwanis since the 1920's, dwindled down to a zero membership with no real leader, no meetings and no outings for the young men. After a year of "virtual nonex istence," interest in reviving the troop peaked. "There has been a great deal of interest over this thing, especially from disgruntled parents who are concerned about the future of the scouts," Connell said earlier. Along with troop parents and the Kiwanis club, a new scout master was found, and the troop started the re-organizational pro cess. "With the support of the Kiwanis, and the enthusiasm that these boys have, 1 think things are going to be just fine," Cumston said. In addition to appointing Cumston and gettting the troop re organized, the troop was able to maintain the number that they have carried for over 50 years. "As of last Wednesday we were able to renew our charter. We were also able to keep the 401 troop number," Cumston said. "At this point things are looking CUSTOMER SERVICE Dundarrach, N.C.
