Over 700 Expected For Pancake Supper Over 700 people are expected 10 fill the Hoke High Gibson Cafeteria December 15 for the an nual Raeford Kiwanis Club pan cake supper. '"We are expecting a really good crowd this sear." Chairman of the supper John Plummer said. The supper, which features all the pancakes and sausage you can eat for S3, will begin Thursday Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. and will continue until 8 p.m. Money raised through the pan cake tickets will stay right here in the county . Plummer said. In addition to the pancake feast, kiwanians are also selling rattle tickets that could reap some lucky winner a 5500 cash prize. Sieven Sullivan, 25, of Ri. I, Red Springs was arresied Thursday afternoon by Hoke Sheriff's deputies after being accused of raping a Red Springs woman. According to sheriff's reports, Sullivan and ihe victim were riding around "drinking beer" when the alleged attack took place just off Highway 211 in Hoke County. The report shows thai Sullixan allegedly pulled into the woods around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night and attacked the victim. The victim's statement also alleges that Sullivan threatened harm with a knife if his wishes were not carried oui. Sheriff's deputies arrested Sullivan around 2 p.m. Thursday and placed him under a $5,000 bond. Sullixan uas released on bond late Thursda\ night, records show . In unrelated action, over $400 in tools were taken from the Depart ment of Transportation (DOT) building off of Turnpike Road near Raeford. Reports show that someone entered the buildings after ihey ap parentl> cut the chain link fence that surrounds the DOT property. A $50 battery was removed from a truck in the DOT garage. The suspects also allegedly entered the warehouse and main tanence shop taking $395 in tools. reports indicate. Although no arrests had beer made, reports show thai the case was still being investigated on Tuesday. A 15-year old juvenile was caught last Tuesday allegedly try ing to take money from the Quewhiffle Store and Cafe. The juvenile was apparently caught as he attempted to open the window of the cash register. Nothing was taken in the inci dent. Suspended Sentence Given For Breakin A Cumberland County man plead no contest to charges of breaking, entering and larceny in Hoke District Court Friday. James Douglass Carver Jr. of Rt. 7, Fayetteville was given a six month suspended sentence on those charges by District Court Judge Elizabeth Keever. Judge Keever placed Carver on a year's supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $100 fine and cost . Keever ordered Carver's proba tion transferred to Cumberland County. Carver was arrested after allegedly breaking into two Hoke residences on November 4 and 5. Over $200 in stereo equipment and furniture were taken during the two break-ins. In other action, a 27-year old Hoke County man plead guilty to two counts of assaulting a law en forcement officer, one count of careless and reckless driving after drinking and one count of failure to stop for a blue light and siren. Hughie McMillian of Rt. I , Red Springs was given a two-year suspended sentence on all the charges by District Court Judge Charles Guy during court Thurs day. Judge Guy also instructed McMillian to pay a $300 fine and court cost. Richard Neal Cupyar of Fayet teville plead guilty to exceeding a safe speed and was ordered to pay the cost of the action. Trent Mario Tabor of Ft. Bragg plead guilty to speeding (67-55) and driving while his license was revoked. Judge Guy gave the defendant a six-month suspended sentence and ordered him to pay a $300 fine and court cost. Tabor was also ordered to not operate a motor vehicle until pro perly licensed. Randolf B. Autry of Charlotte plead guilty to speeding (66-55) and paid the court S45 in the ac tion. Timothy Douglass Currie of Rt. 3, Raeford plead guilty to speeding (65-55) and was given a 30-day suspended sentence and ordered to pay a S35 fine. Earl Roper Jr. of Red Springs plead guilty to speeding (50-35) and was given a 30-day suspended sentence and ordered to pay $15 and court cost in the action.
