The group of fourth graders sang a variety of songs including a number of spirituals, such as, " Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, " "Wade in the Water, " and " Jesus Walk ed this Lonesome Valley. " Other selections were " Kids are Music " and "Over the Rainbow . " The students from West Hoke said they enjoyed the op portunity to sing at McCain and their audience seemed responsive and appreciative. Hoke Highlights By Andrea Shaw Vanessa Ferrell was named Miss EKOH for 1984 during the pageant which was held last Thursday night at 7:30 in the MacDonald Gym nasium. Sponsored by the Annual Staff under the direction of Susan Houston, the pageant was an even ing of beauty highlighted by enter tainment provided by members of the Hoke High Chorus and Chorale, Little Miss Lumbee, and Miss Lumbee. After Evening Gown Competi tion, the eight finalists were named as follows: Alice Adkins, Pam Barnes, Missie Beckman, Vanessa Ferrell, Cherri Lamb, Jennifer Porter, Wanda Taylor, and Teresa Williams. Master of Ceremonies, Charlie Parsons, introduced Miss EKOH 1983, Donna Maxwell. Patricia Sizemore was named Miss Congeniality. First runner-up was Teresa Williams and second runner-up was Pam Barnes. As the basketball season winds down, the Bucks are playing pretty good ball. This week, they had one good night and one bad night. Tuesday night, the Lady Bucks defeated Terry Sanford by a score { of 76-51. On Friday night, they were defeated by Pinecrest. The Varsity Bucks defeated Terry Sanford 64-59. They, too, were defeated by Pinecrest on Fri day night by a score of 62-79. ATTENTION IS NOW YOUR CABLE OPERATOR !
