Freshmen teams win, lose
The ninth-grade Hoke High
girls' softball team put another win
under their belt last week downing
Lumberton Junior High 6-3 and
boosting their record to 3-1 for the
year.
Buck players Roslind Day and
Regina Oxendine hit two for three
during Monday's game while Tina
Brewer had nine assists.
"This was a very good defensive
ballgame. We only gave up five
hits," Head Coach Robert Taylor
said.
"We played smart ball cutting
down our mental errors. They cost
us our only defeat," he added.

Easter egg hunt
An Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Recreation Commis
sion, will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. at
McLauchlin Park. (Behind McLauchlin Elementary School).
This event is free and is open to those ages 2-8 only. Parents or
guardians are requested to accompany the child.
Aerobics
An aerobics class is set to get underway on April 10 and run
through May 17. The course will be held on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 7:30, in the J.W. Turlington Gym. Cost for the six
week course will be S15, and the class is open to all interested
males and females. The instructor will be Leslie Layne. Call
875-5603 to get your name on the list, or for more information.
(NOTE: The first class ONLY, April 10, will meet at 7:15 in
stead of 7:30).
Karate
For those interested in the martial arts, classes are currently
being held in the room above Howell's Drug Store on Main
Street. Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m.
Cost is $25 per month for instruction plus insurance fee. ($5 for
ages 18 and under, $10 for those 19 years or older. Insurance is
good for one year from date paid, and needs to be turned in at
the recreation office). For more information, please call

Members of the IEA RoadRun
ners won three awards in a road
race in Columbia, South Carolina
on Saturday.
The race was the "Let's Get
Physical Against Cancer" Road
Race.
The Race consisted of a 10K (6.2
mile) run.

In the 13 and under age division,
the RoadRunners took first and se
cond place.
Ronnie E. Locklear took first
place by clocking in a time of
37:29. This time gave him a 12th
place finish overall in a field of 103
runners.
Second place was captured by
Ivory Henderson in a time of 38:55
for a 15th place overall finish.
In the 14-17 year old division,
Robert Lambert took first place by
breaking the tape at 40:57 for a
19th place overall finish.
