Rutledge-McKenzie vows
pledged at Sandy Grove
Teresa Ann McKenzie of
Lumber Bridge and David Gene
Rutledge of Fayetteville were mar
ried Sunday, April 8 at Sandy
Grove United Methodist Church.
The Reverend Russell Knowles of
ficiated. The bride is the daughter
of Mary C. McKenzie of Lumber
Bridge and the late James K.
McKenzie. The groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Edsal Rutledge
of Fayetteville.
Two mixed floral arrangements
and two spiral candelabra graced
the altar area. A kneeling bench
was flanked by palms and ferns. A
unity candle with greenery and a
pair of doves completed the set
ting.
The bride was escorted by her
brother, James D. McKenzie. She
wore a traditional satin wedding
gown with Victorian neckline, lace
yoke and a lace ruffle around the
yoke with seed pearls. The slim
sleeves were adorned with seed
pearls and lace at the cuffs. A deep
ruffle accented the skirt. Her
chapel train was edged with lace
and flowed from a band of seed
pearls. She carried a cascading
bouquet of dogwood and other
spring flowers.
Matron of honor was Glenda
Dunshee, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Emma McKen
zie, sister of the bride, Kay Strom
and Jackie Robeson. They wore
gowns of dusty rose with a lace
yoke, long puff sleeves and full
gathered skirt. They carried lace
fans with streamers.
The best man was Dennis
Rutledge, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Warren Dunshee,
Larry Dunshee, and Mike Hurt.
The flower girls were Stacy
McKenzie, niece of the bride and
Christy Harper, niece of the
groom. They wore pink dotted
swiss long dresses with lace ruffles
around the neckline and the skirt.
They wore pink rose buds in their
hair and carried baskets with
daisies, dogwood, rose petals and
babies' breath.
The bride's mother wore a street
length dress of rose with dusty
pink lace jacket. She had an orchid
corsage. The groom's mother wore
a street length pink chiffon dress
and had a white orchid corsage.
After the pronouncement of hus
band and wife, the couple knelt as
Larry Chason, cousin of the bride

Mrs. David Gene Rutledge
sang "The Lord's Prayer." He
was accompanied by Matt Thomp
kins, pianist.
Janice Chason Long directed the
wedding.
The bride is employed by J.P.
Stevens in Fayetteville.
The groom is stationed at Fort
Bragg with the U.S. Army.
Guests were entertained with a
reception following the ceremony.
Guests were served wedding cake
and assorted refreshments from a
table covered with a white lace
cloth and centered with brass
candlesticks and an arrangement
of orchids and fern.
Misses Noel Jones, Missy Jones
and Amy Black attended the
bride's register.

Mr. and Mrs. Waylon Fulk of
Fayetteville and Mr. and Mrs. Cur
tis Baker of Route 1, Aberdeen will
attend the graduation ceremony on
Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Fulk's
daughter, Doreen, who is receiving
her degree in nursing from
Tallahassee Community College,
Tallahassee, Florida. She is also
the granddaughter of Mrs. Viola
Fulk.
Virginia Wade Ray
Ray-Johnson
Mrs. Annie R. Ray announces
the engagement of her daughter,
Virginia Wade, to James L.
Johnson Jr., of St. Pauls. He is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. James L.
Johnson.
Both Miss Ray and Johnson are
employed at Burlington Industries
in St. Pauls.
The couple will wed on June 30.
The ceremony will be held in the
rose garden of Fayetteville
Technical Institute.

Lorraine Walters McDiarmid to |
Donald Eugene Beaver Jr., both of
Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is
the son of MSgt. (Ret.) and Mrs.
Donald Eugene Beaver Sr., of
Havelock, North Carolina.

Tucker-Lee nuptials exchanged
in First Baptist Church Apr. 21
Phoebe Renee Lee and Charles
Pittman Tucker, both of Raeford,
exchanged wedding vows in a small
double ring ceremony on Satur
day, April 21 at two o'clock p.m.
in the First Baptist Church in
Raeford. The Rev. Billy Beaver of
ficiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Roger A. Lee of Sum
merfield. She is a graduate of
Northwest Guilford High School
and Mars Hill College. She is
employed as a music teacher at
J.W. Turlington School in
Raeford.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Hazel Tucker of Raeford, and
Melvin A. Tucker of Hamlet. He is
a graduate of Hamlet High School
and he attended Sandhills Com
munity College. He is employed
with the Hoke County Schools
Maintenance Department.
The altar of the church was
decorated with two seven branch
candletrees and two Boston ferns
in white wicker baskets.
The bride was escorted by her
father. She wore a formal white
gown with lace ruffles and puffed
sleeves. The bodice was trimmed
with white satin ribbons and lace.
The V-shaped neckline was trimm
ed with tiny pearls. She wore a
small arrangement of white silk
flowers in her hair and carried a
bouquet of fresh spring flowers
trimmed with white bridal lace and
streamers.
Miss Stephanie Lee, sister of the
bride was the maid of honor. She
wore a long baby blue dress of dot
ted swiss fashioned after the
bride's gown. She wore baby's
breath in her hair and carried a
small nosegay bouquet.
Woodmen members
hold regular meet'
Lodge 7179 met at the Open
Arms Rest Home recently with 16
members present.
They visited each room at the
home, presenting gifts and fruit to
each resident.
The following week, the lodge
visited the Hoke Children's Center
to distribute toys to the children.
The next regular meeting of
Lodge 6179 will be May 8 at the
home of Mrs. Mary Haire. All
members are urged to attend.

lavender dress made of Qiana and
chiffon.
The groom's mother wore a
crepe dress of periwinkle blue.
Both mothers wore corsages of
white orchids.
Melvin A. Tucker, father of the
groom, was best man. Usher were
Roger A. Lee Jr. of Summerfield,
and Larry Holt of Hamlet.
Mrs. Glen Langdon was wed
ding musician. After the couple ex
changed vows, the bride sang "The
Lord's Prayer."

fellowship hall.
The rehearsal dinner was held
Friday evening. It was hosted by
the mother of the groom, Mrs.
Hazel Tucker. Members of the
wedding party and other out of
town guests attended.
The couple will reside in
Raeford.
