Pines man wins at Deer Track A Southern Pines resident cap tured the Men's 30 title during play last Sunday in the First Annual Deer Track Senior Tennis Cham pionship held at Hoke County's Deer Track Racquet Club. Keith Marion of Southern Pines beat Steve Graham of Red Springs 2-6, 6-4 and 7-6 to take the Men's 30 crown. The seniors tournament, which is sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association, the North Carolina Tennis Association and the Southern Tennis Association, started on Friday. Pinehurst's Mike Corthum defeated John Mitchell of Waxhaw in the Men's 40 Singles, 4-6, 6-3 and 7-6. Horace Hayworth, of Rock rogham, won over Fayetteville's Vance Neal in the Men's 40 Con solation Singles. Walter Brown and Walter S tamer, both of Raleigh, defeated Terrell West and BUI Weathers from Southern Pines to take the Men's 40 Doubles title. That match was won 5-7, 6-4 and 6-2. Safety winner Mary Stone, an employee in the Training Department at Burl ington Industries br Roe ford, Is the Safety Slogan winner for the month of October. For her Slogan Mary will receive a $25 gift certificate toward a pur chase in the Employee Store, a fire extinguisher, reserved park big for a month and a certificate of recognition.
