Hoke Coaaty Librariaa Our new children's books have arrived. We are excited, and we hope our young readers will share our enthusiam. Betsy McNeill and Louise McDiannid are working hard to get them ready for the shelves. The books are a gift from Jo Sinclair Northrop, and they were given to the library in memory of her parents. We thank Mrs. Nor throp for her generous contribu tion to the Hoke County Public Library. I know the children will enjoy them for many years. The library wishes to thank teachers from J.W. McLauchlin Elementary School for the Hallo ween art display in the library. Students from the classes of Janice Worthy, Mary Bounds, Ann. Shannon and Qertfe Wright are certainly helping to nuke the library come alive with the spirit of Halloween. We invite young artists from all the schools to give the library art work for display. We love to have the opportunity to share art from the schools with the community. The library has had several school classes to tour the library recently. We enjoy having the young people in the library. Please call the library to arrange a tour. The library is in the process of having installed a new phone system. This means that our Dial a-Story is just around the corner. As soon as the new system is in stalled, we will advertise the begin ning of the Dial-a-Story programs. Library News The library is looking forward to having the children of Hoke Coun ty enjoy being able to call the library and hear a good story or tale right in their own home. The library thanks Harriet McDonald for the display in the foyer concerning Down's Syn droms. October is National Down's Syndrome month. Harriet put together many interesting and in formative booklets, pamphlets, and photographs describing Down's Syndrome. The library patrons have gained insight into the different aspects of a child with Down's Syndrome.
