Scouts, their leaders, and families looked very impressive as they worshipped together at the Raeford United Methodist Church. This church sponsors Scout Troop 404 and Frank Baker serves as liason between the church and the Scouts. He spoke to the con gregation on Sunday and introduc ed leaders. John Ferguson is the Troop Leader and Ken Wither spoon is Pack Leader for the Cub Scout organization. Eighty-plus boys are in the various levels of scouting. Ferguson mentioned the joy of working with an organization which teaches "love of God, love of family, and love of country." Witherspoon spoke of the pride he feels in seeing the younger ones grow in the organization Both men have two sons in scouting. Such a scouting program cannot exist without the committment of many adults. Many men and women are holding very responsi ble positions. Volunteers are con stantly sought. Ferguson asked that any citizen who could spend an hour or two a week with a scout or scouts contact him. Baker announced the names of the Scouts who have reached the rank of Eagle this year. The total is now ten Eagles for Troop 404. He says this record for the troop's eight-year history is remarkable. The Cub Scouts have an outstand ing number of Cubs to receive the Arrow of Light this year. These levels can only be attained through many hours of service and skill building. The young men and their leaders are certainly to be congratulated on their fine work and success. Thanks, too, for the community service and their contributions to Hoke County and its future. Wearing earmuffs and scarves serves as adequate protection for ears and cheeks. Wet gloves and socks make for frostbitten fingers and toes. Change to dry clothing as needed. Minor frost nips may be treated by cowering cheeks or ears with a warm hand. Deeper frostbite may require medical attention. Get the victim indoors and call a doctor. Then, warm the frostbitten area by immersing it in water heated ten degrees above body temperature. Take care of yourself. You're important to us!
