9th grade girls compile 4rl mark The Hoke High Ninth Grade Girls' Softball Team now stands with a record of 4-1, but Coach Spencer Sampson says the girls still need work. "Our defense is improving but we need more consistency," Samp son said. "We play well for a few innings then we play bad. Our pitching has to keep improving and hitting is spotty, but we are getting better," the coach said. Last Wednesday, the girls defended their record against a team from East Lee. The ninth grade girls won that game 14-8. The day before, on April 2, the girls sent a well defeated E.E. Smith team home to tell of a score ' of 32-10. "It was a fine hitting perfor mance by the team," Sampson said. "Better defense will be one of our main areas of improvement," said the coach.
