George Edward Long. 35, died
Sunday morning in Moore
Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2
p.m. on Tuesday at the Living
Faith Ministries church by Revs.
Tex Deaton and David Walters.
Burial was in Raeford Cemetery.
Survivors are one son: George
Edward Long Jr. of Fayetteville;
two daughters: Mrs. Sabrina Long
of Holden Beach and Mrs. Georgia

Mrs. Anne Phelps Page, 85, died
Wednesday morning in Highland
House of Fayetteville.
Graveside services were held Fri
day morning at Oak Dale
Cemetery in Wilmington by Rev.
Billy Beaver.
She is survived by: one son:
John L. Casteen of Antioch,
California; one daughter: Mrs.
Wilton Wood of Raeford; one
sister: Miss Lillie May Phelps of
Lake Waccamaw; six grand
children and seven great grand
children.
The family was assisted by
Crumpler Funeral Home.

the Raeford First Baptist Church.
Lutber D. White
Luther David White, 62, of 3306
Nato Road, Fayetteville, died Sun
day. He was a native of Hoke
County.
Funeral services were conducted
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cumberland
Road United Pentecostal Holiness
Church by the Revs. J.F. Williams
and Billy Mobley. Burial was in
Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife Opal
Jackson White; three daughters,
Susan Ann Melvin, Judy Taylor
and Dale Bentley, all of Fayet
teville; a son, David C. White of
Linden; a sister, Bessie Brock of
Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren and
one great-grandson.
The family was assisted by
Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Dudley Nelson
Dudley Thomas Nelson, 60, of
Lees Mill Road died Thursday at
the Veterans Administration
Medical Center in Durham.

Irene B. Carrie
Mrs. Irene B. Currie, 81, died
Thursday morning in Cape Fear
Valley Medical Hospital.
Funeral Services were held at 1 1
a.m. Saturday at Bethel
Presbyterian Church by Rev.
Kemper Fitch.
Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Survivors are two sons: Alfred
K. Leach and Clyde A. Leach both
of Raeford; three daughters: Mrs.
Elizabeth Campbell of Butner,
Mrs. Betty Justice of Fayetteville
and Mrs. Bertha Hendrix of
Raeford; 23 grandchildren and 24
great grandchildren.

Gary Southern
Gary Southern 22, died May 1
from head injuries received in a
motorcycle accident.
The accident occured in Fair
view, Montana where Gary was as
resident.
Funeral Services were held on
Friday May 3 at the First Baptist
Church in Circle Montana.
Gary was born December. 19,
1962 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico the
son of Franklin and Eunice
Southern. He grew up and attend
ed schools in Texas, Germany,
California, North Carolina, and
Circle Montana.
After graduation he began
working in the oil field as a rough
neck in Oklahoma and later
returned to the Circle - Sidney
Montana area where he has lived
since.
Gary was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Circle. He en
joyed the outdoors, hunting,
fishing, water skiing, riding his
motorcycle and traveling.
Gary died May I, at the Com
munity Memorial Hosptial.
Survivors are his parents: Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Southern; one
brother: Greg Southern; one sister:
Brenda Southern all of Fairview;
His Maternal grandmother: Mrs.
B. Curtis of Circle and his Paternal
grandmother: Mrs. George
Souther of Shannon.
Gary was a former Raeford
Resident living on East Donaldson
Avenue.
He is survived by an Uncle: Bill
Southern of Raeford.
Joye Wall
Miss Joye Wall, 91, died Mon
day at Open Arms Rest Home,
Raeford.
Funeral was 4:00 p.m. Tuesday
from Page Memorial United
Methodist Church with Rev.
Donald Phillips and Rev. Gary
McNair officiating. Burial was in
Ashley Heights Cemetery.
Survivors are three sisters: Mrs.
Lalah Bell of Atlanta, Georgia,
Mrs. Grace Snyder of "PinfldtlV, '
and Mrs. Nora Moody of Aber
deen.

A resident of Dallas, Clyda
Carpenter Best, died at the age of
85 last Wednesday.
Funeral services were held Fri
day at the Holy Communion
Lutheran Church in Dallas.
Burial services followed at the
Bethel Lutheran Chruch
Cemetery.
Services were conducted by the
Reverend John Merck.
Surviving are four sons, James

Charlotte, Gene Best of Lin
colnton and J.L. Best of Denver;
one daughter, Marlene Kiser of
Jacksonville, Florida; three
brothers, Spargo Carpenter and
L.S. Carpenter, both of Landers
Chapel and John Lee Carpenter of
Davidson; two sisters, Verna Mae
Pasour of Landers Chapel and
Bertha Blanche Long of Dallas; 13
grandchildren, nine great grand
children and three great great
grandchildren.

Gaston Avenue, Dallas, N.C.
