Man charged In
assault case
A Raeford man, Robert C. Cun
ningham, of 1215 Stewart Street,
was i chair rt from the Hoke Coun
ty Jail Monday on $2,000 bond
after being charged with hitting
two men with a pistol.
Statements from Michael Odell
Glenn and Donald R. Glenn say
they had just ordered food from
Virgil's Drive-In Sunday night
when they were approached by the
30-year-old Cunningham.
Michael Glenn told sheriff s
deputies that after he and his
brother ordered their food, Cunn
ingham approached them and
pushed them out of his way.
Words were exchanged and the
man allegedly took out a pistol and
started hitting him, Michael told
deputies. , ,
Cunningham has been charged
with assault with a deadly weapon
inflicting serious injury, reports
say.
Both men were taken to Cape
Fear Valley Medical Center,
treated and released.
A joint effort between the Hoke
County Sheriffs Department and
the Raeford City Police resulted in
a Fayettville woman being charged
with larceny.
Frances Dickerson was charged
with allegedly taking S69.97 in
clothing from the local Cato s
store, Raeford Police Chief
Leonard Wiggins said.
The alleged theft occurred last
Saturday.
Dickerson was allegedly seen
leaving the store with some
clothing, Wiggins said.
Store managers apparently got
the license plate number of the car
the woman was driving and broad
cast it on law enforcement radio
frequencies.
Hoke County Deputy Mack
High found the car with Dickerson
sitting in it just off Highway 401,
according to a report.
Upon searching the vehicle,
High found the allegedly stolen
merchandise, he said in the report.
On August 1, Roy Brock
reported to the Sheriffs Depart
ment the apparent theft of a water
pump on property owned by him.
The pumphouse was broken in
to, reports say.
The value of the pump was plac
ed at $174.93.
Sandra Huggins reported to the
Hoke County Sheriffs Depart
ment two break-ins in three days.
On July 26, Huggins reported
three television sets, two color and
one black and white, stolen from
her house.
The total loss in property for the
first theft was reported $1,210.
Again, on July 29, Huggins
reported her house broken into.
According to reports, the
woman left her house at 6:30 a.m.
and returned at 5 p.m. to find her
front door kicked open.
During the second break-in, ap
parent thieves stole a clock, valued
at $50, and a tiller from the
woman's barn valued at $175,
reports say.
Raeford Police Chief Leonard
Wiggins reported that a man's
chainsaw was apparently stolen
out of the back of his truck on July
24.
Curtis Locklear's truck was
parked on North Dickson Street
near the site of the new county ball
park when the saw was stolen,
Wiggins said.
The chainsaw was valued at
$119.95, said the chief.
On July 31, Burlington Mills
reported their break room broken
into.
The door was kicked off the
hinges, said Wiggins.
A change machine in the room
was broken into, he said.
There has been no estimate of
the amount of money taken, he
said.
About 50 watches and a display
case were taken out of a Raeford
store on August 2, according to the
chief.
A group of males walked into
David's Food Store, on South
Main Street, last Friday. When
they left, the watches were gone,
said Wiggins.
One of the men in the group
kept the store's clerk busy while
the others apparently spirited away
the watches, said Wiggins.
The watches were valued at
$225, he said.

Have you ever been locked in a
small cage with crumbly food
and little water? I have and I'm
not really fond of it. Why don V
you come out find look at me?
I'm a six-month-old German
Shepherd with a lot of heart.
Good dog
Lots of people like bulldogs and
I have a lot of bulldog in me.
My friends and I at the Hoke
County Animal Shelter need
good homes. I'm young too,
only two years old. If you have
kids and need a dog, I'm yours.
