Towelclad woman apprehended in Sandhills Y outh Center By fcd Miller A 19-year-old woman, dressed in only a towel, was found early Monday morning in an all male dormatory of Sandhills Youth Center. Tracey Keasher Brandow, of 3400 Mason Road in Charlotte, has been charged with misde meanor breaking and entering and providing an inmate with alchohol, according to reports from the Hoke County Sheriff's Depart ment. The woman had been to visit her husband, Brian Brandow, 21, who is serving time at the center, reports say. According to a statement from the woman, the couple had visited on Sunday afternoon. She left the center that after noon, went to Charlotte, shower ed, and decided to come back for a nocturnal visit on her own accord, she told Hoke County sheriff's deputies. She did admit that she had discussed with her husband coming back during off hours, but that the subject had been dropped with no decision. In her statement, Brandow said she arrived back in Southern Pines between 1:45 and 2 a.m. She told deputies that she had gotten .into the youth center through the window in her hus band's room. A guard at the facility, Larry D. McCallum caught the couple. In a statement, McCallum said he discovered Mr. Brandow miss ing from his bed only to find him coming out of a bathroom. He then checked the bathroom and found Brandow's wife, said McCallum. The guard then called the sergeant of the guards on duty while Mrs. Brandow dressed, he said. When she had reclothed, the woman jumped from ihe window and ran, the guard told deputies. McCallum remained with the in mate until his superior arrived, he said. The guard then joined in a search for the woman but could not find her on the grounds of the center. ? Mrs. Brandow was caught by Hoke County Deputy Joshua Brown after her car had becomd stuck on a dirt road near thd center. In her statement, Tracey Bran dow said she had been trying to turn around to go back to the center out of concern for her hus band when her car became stuck in sand. Confiscated from inmates was a half a case of beer, some of the cans empty, reports say. The woman was taken to the Cumberland County Jail Monday and, as of Tuesday morning, was still being held under a S500 bond. Assault cases clog court docket Assault cases stemming from domestic disputes and late-night arguments clogged the docket of Hoke County District Court last week. Two Raeford men were sentenc ed last week to spend 72 hours in the Hoke County Jail after they were convicted of assaulting each other. Victor Lee Smith, 26, was con victed on a warrant from July 28 charging him with cutting Ronald F. Foster with a knife on the left shoulder. The 24-year-old Foster was con victed of the same charge. He was served a warrant saying that he shot at Smith on August 1, records from the Hoke County Clerk of Courts Office show. Both men were placed on super vised probation for two years. Foster was fined $300 while Smith was fined S200, records say. James Clayton Locklear, a 56-year-old Shannon man, was ordered to spend 48 hours in jail after being convicted of assault by pointing a shotgun at Glenda Ox endine. Locklear was arrested on August 30, according to records. Robert C. Cunningham, a Raeford man, was convicted of hitting Donald R. Glenn and M.O. Glenn with a pistol, records show. Donald Glenn ?iad to be hospitalized. Cunningham was given three years on unsupervised probation and ordered to pay S2S0 restitution in each case, according to records. Lee Gurth McArthur, a 23-year old Lumber Bridge resident, was placed on unsupervised probation for three years and fined $250 after being convicted of driving while his license was revoked on July 20, records say. William T. Vanmeter, of Fayet teville was placed on unsupervised probation for three years and fined $200 for driving while his license was revoked. The 23-year-old Vanmeter was arrested on September 10, records say. Ronnie Elvin Smith, a Bennetts ville. South Carolina man, was sentenced to three years on super vised probation and fined $500 after being convicted of two counts of driving while his license was revoked, records say. Smith, 37, was arrested on August 7 and September 13, records say. Thomas Earl Brock, a Southern Pines man, 25, was given unsuper vised probation and fined $200 after being convicted of driving while his license was revoked on July 3, according to records. Tony Buie, a 63-year-old Raeford man, was convicted of driving while impaired (DW1) and sentenced to spend 60 days in jail suspended for one year on un supervised probation and fined $100, records say. David Lawrence Strauch, of St. Pauls, was sentenced to 90 days in jail suspended for one year on pro bation and fined $200 after being convicted of DWI, according to records. Strauch, 23, was arrested on July 17. Melvin E. McGilvary, of Raeford, 31, was sentenced to 60 days in jail suspended for one year on unsupervised probation and fined $100 after being convicted of DWI on March 23, records say. Norman Smith, of Raeford, was ordered to pay $20 in restitution after being convicted of writing a bad check to Sky City on June 17, records say. Rodney E. Holmes, a Raeford resident, was ordered to pay $50 in restitution after being convicted oT bouncing a check to Hardin's Food Store. In court action last week, Donald Michael Anderson, of Laurinburg, was sentenced to a year suspended for two years on probation after being convicted of a second incidence of DWI. : Tlfe 31 -year-old Anderson, whp also was fined $300 and ordered to spend seven days in jail, was ai^ rested on August 17, records say. William Earl Gregory, ii Raeford man, was fined $250 aftei being convicted of driving whil< his license was revoked, records say. ? . The 20-year-old man was ar rested on August 4. In unrelated cased, John Thomas Shields, of Vass, and Prentis Locklear of Pembroke were both convicted of DWI. Both men were sentenced to 60 days in jail suspended for one yeaf on unsupervised probation and fined $100, records show. ? Shields, 57, was arrested ot> April 28 while the 31-year-ol4 Locklear was arrested on August 29.
