October 13,1993 In Weeks to Come In Hoke County October 14 TOUCH A TEEN PAGEANTS — Applications for three pageants will be accepted by the Touch A Teen Foundation at the Hoke Library Thursday, Oct. 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The pageants are “Prince and Princess,” ages 5-9; “Pre-teen,” ages 10-13; and “Adult,” ages 18-100. October 15 WOMEN’S CONSORTIUM — The Hoke County Women’s Consortium will hold an open meeting Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. in the Hoke Library. October 16 SUBSTANCE ABUSE FAIR — A substance abuse awarene.ss and prevention fair will be held at Old Armory stadium Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment, free hot dogs, drinks and popcorn, and games and activities for all. CHEW AND CHAT — The Silver City Federated Women Club will sponsor a Harvest “Chew and Chat" Gathering Oct. 16 from 2-6 p.m. The event will he held at McLaughlin Chapel AMEZ Church. October 17-22 REVIVAL— Mt. Elim Baptist Church will hold a revival Oct. 17-22 with the Rev. Roy Clark and the Rev. David Hunt preaching. Sunday’s service will begin at 7 p.m.; other services will begin at 7:30 p.m. October 19 MEDICAL CENTER BOARD MEETS — The annual meeting of the board of directors of Hoke Family Medical Center, Inc. will be held Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at 405 S. Main St. October 23 SOFTBALL— Pittman Grove Baptist Church will hold a softball game at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 for all current and former players. Refreshments will be served. November 6 FALL BAZAAR — Sandy Grove United Methodist Church will hold a fall bazaar Nov. 6 with breakfast from 7:30-10; barbecue plates and soup from 11 -2; a yard sale from 7 a.m.-2; and aafts, baked goods and canned goods for sale between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. All proceeds go to the church’s building fund. November 9 NICKELS FOR KNOW-HOW — The Nickels for Know-How referendum will be held Nov. 9. Polling places are the Cooperative Extension Service Center in Raeford; the ASCS office in the Raeford Post Office; and at Farm Chemicals on Highway 20. All purchasers of feed and fertilizer are eligible to vote for the self-help program for agriculture. November 13 NCNG FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP — The N.C. National Guard Family Support Group will hold its second Inside Flea Market Nov. 13. Booths are rented for $10, with tables and chairs available for an addi tional $5. Rental fees are due by Oct. 31.
