marry March 16
Melissa Jane Oxendine and Ventris Lowery were married March 16.
Romero, Brown wed
■ Barbara Brown and David Romero,
both of Atlanta, were married in a 3
p.m. ceremony on April 6 in Buffalo
Springs Baptist Church with the Rev.
B. 0. Shoffner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Willie
and Betty Brown of Raeford. She
graduated from Hoke County High
School and North Carolina Central
University and is employed with
Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
The groom is the son of Lionel and
Hellen NealofNorfolk,Va. He gradu
ated from lleltzaba High School and
South Atlanta University and is self-
employed with International Market
ing.
The church was decorated with
Easter lilies and colorful bows.
Musical selections included “You
■and I," “lord’s Prayer,” and songs
from Stevie Wonder sound track.
The bride, escorted by her father,
wore a long white gown with the silk
bodice, neckline and sleeves covered
^ in pearls and a chiffon skirt ending in
,'a cathedral train. She wore a crown-
' like veil with a long net bandeau and
^carried Eiaster lilies and multi-col-
|ored carnations.

^'Glenda Ixtck of San Antonio, Tex.
; She wore a short gown of purple linen
with double layer of sheer softly
draped around her gown with purple
shoes to match. She carried a small
bouquet of Easter lilies and multi
colored carnations.
The bridesmaids were Priscilla
Ramseur of Durham, Lyn Clark of
Pittsboro and Gwen Arthur of Or
lando. They wore pastel gowns of
sand, rose and fuchsia similar to the
honor attendant and carried like bou
quets.
The best man was Willie Mills Jr.
of Mobile, Ala.
Ushers were Herman Thomas of
Mobile, Ala., Bryan Romero of Nor
folk and David Tricksey of Atlanta.
The groom wore a white dinner
jacket with black pants.
The best man and ushers wore black
tuxedos.
Ashley BrownandBrittany Brown
were flower girls and Kevin Brown
was ring bearer.
The rehearsal dinner was held in
Buffalo Springs Baptist Church fel
lowship hall given by Capt. Glenda
Lock.
The wedding reception was held in
the North Carolina National Guard
Armory, given by newlyweds.
After a wedding trip to the Baha
mas, the couple will live in Atlanta.
Melissa Jane Oxendine of Red
Springs and Sgt. Ventris Lowery of
Aberdeen were married in an 11 a.m.
ceremony on March 16 at Flora
Macdonald Academy in Red Springs
with the Rev. Donald Bullard offici
ating.
The bride is the daughter of Rich
ard and Mexana Oxendine of Red
Springs. She graduated from Hoke
County High School and Fayetteville
Technical Community College.
The groom is the son of John Will ie
and Peggy Lowery of Aberdeen. He
graduated from Pinecrest High School
and is in the United States Army.
The rotunda was decorated with a
heart-shaped archway accented with
ivy and mauve orchid arrangement
and mauve satin bows and ferns. The
columns in the rotunda held white
satin bows.
Musical selections included “O
Perfect Love,” “Just You and 1,” and
“Keeper of the Stars.” Soloists were
Greg Lowery, Pat Locklear and Don
Autry Locklear. Pianist was Darlene
Cummings of Red Springs.
The bride, escorted by the Rev.
John T. Henderson, wore a long for
mal gown of ivory silk organza. The
fitted short-sleeved bodice was ac
cented with iridescent and seed pearls
and sheer organza ruffling around the
neckline. The Basque waist was
adorned at the back by satin petals and
the circular skirt ended in sheer ruf
fling and extended into a cathedral
train enhanced with ruffles, iridescents
and seed pearls. Her veil was of silk
illusion held by a coronet of pearls
and iridescentsand accented withsatin
ribbons and she carried a cascade of
white roses accented with leal status
and satin ribbon.
Maid of honor was Kimberly Ann

bodice. She wore a teal and mauve
silk rose headpiece accented with rib
bon and carried a bouquet of teal and
mauve roses.
