HOMECOMING — Phillipi Presbyterian Church is having
their 108th Homecoming Celebration Sunday, OcL

CRAFT CLASS — The Hoke-Cumberland County Master
Gardeners are having a fundraiser class/workshop
to make raffia witches on Monday, OcL 14, at 9
a.m. -12 p.m. at the Cumberland County Exten
sion Auditorium. The cost is $15 and participants

INGATHERING — Antioch Presbyterian Church will have

PLATE SALE — The Hoke County Rescue Squad will be
having their annual plate sale Friday, Oa. 18.
Plates are $5 each. The sale will be at the Hoke
County Rescue Base on Adams Street. All
proceeds go to benefit the rescue squad.
October 19
GOLF TOURNAMENT — The “Just for Jackie” golf
tournament will be held at the Bayonet at Puppy
Creek on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a shotgun start at
9 a.m. and sign-in at 8 a.m. The formal will be a
four-man (A B, C, D) Captain’s Choice. Entry fee
is $50 and includes a commemorative t-shirt and
hole sponsorships are available. The benefit
tournament is in honor of Jackie Williams during
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For

HOMECOMING — The Tabernacle Baptist Church in
Rockfish will have their 100th anniversary (1896-
19%) homecoming observance on Sunday, Oct. 20
with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. morning worship at
11 a.m. and a picnic lunch at 12:30 p.m. The Rev.
Scott Turner Jr. will be the guest speaker along with
the regular pastor the Rev. William Norris.

FALL REVIVAL — The First Baptist Church of Raeford
will have their Fall Revival OcL 20-23. This year’s
theme is “Revival for the Family of God” and the
Satterwhite Brothers will lead the revival. For

BBQ PLATE SALE — The “Just for Jackie” barbecue plate
sale will be held at the Edinborough Shopping
Center at 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.
31. Tickets for plates are $5 each and the WKML
Rolling Radio will broadcast live. Delivery is
provided for businesses purchasing 10 or more
tickets and a bake sale will also be on site. The
benefit is in honor of Jackie Williams during

Library will have a Halloween party for kids 5 to

BABYSITTING INSTRUCTORS —The Highlands
Chapter of the American Red Cross is in need of
volunteers to teach its babysitting course that
prepares youth ages 11-16 to be responsible and
competent babysitters. Some training is necessary
for instructors and volunteers must take the
Instruct Candidate Training (ICT) on Oct. 12 at 8
a.m. - 5 p.m. and the Babysitter Instructor Course
on Oct. 14 and 16 at 6 -10 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 8
a.m. - 5 p.m. ICT costs $15 and the Babysitting
Instructor course is $25. Current American Red
Cross Instructors need not take the ICT. The
course fee will be waived for individuals who
commit to teaching a minimum of three classes for
the chapter.

ARTS CONCERT — Mack Bailey and The Hard Travelers
will perform on Saturday, OcL 12, at 8 p.m. at the
Old Biscoe School in Troy. The event is sponsored
by the Montgomery Arts Council and tickets are
$10 for adults and $5 for students.

HEALTHY HEARTS— Healthy Hearts, an educational
series provided by the Healthy Hearts Cardiac
Rehabilitation Program of Cape Fear Valley
Medical Center for those individuals with heart
disease or those who wish to reduce their risk of
heart disease will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7
p.m. The meeting will be in the Southeastern
Regional Rehabilitation Center Auditorium behind

BEACH MUSIC — Fayetteville After Five will feature

TUTORS NEEDED — The Hoke Reading/Literacy
Council is desperately seeking adult volunteers
tutors. Free training is available. For more

DAY CARES — Day care homes can be reimbursed for
the cost of food served to children through the
Child Care Food Program. All day care homes
registered with the state are eligible for
participation in the program, which is part of
tne National School Lunch Act. Participants
receive a monthly check which aver-ages
about $450 for meals and snacks served to
children. The program also provides menu
ideas and nutritional education. The program
is sponsored by T&T Tutor World Inc., a non
