Hospice saying farewell to Debbie Vaughan Debbie Vaughan, Hospice nurse, will be leaving us in June. She and her family will be moving to Shallotte, where the Rev. Vaughan wil I be pastor. In addition to classical bal let, the show features tap, gymnas tics, jazz and children’s dances. Curtain time is 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the Crown Theatre box of fice. Youngsters ride their trikes to raise funds for fighting children’s diseases Peggy Huggins will serve as coor dinator of a Trike-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospi tal. The event, scheduled for May .30, is sponsored by Sandy Grove Child Care Center Inc. and will be held at 6800 Arabia Rd. it is scheduled to begin at 10L30 a.m. By supp^irriiug the participants of the event, yttu will help raise funds for the internation ally recognized hospittil. These funds will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood catastrophic dis eases. Children will learn about bicycle safety during the week through sto ries, games, puzzles, and songs. The week’s finale will be when the chil dren riding their trikes through Safety Village, demonstrating what they have learned about bike safety. The goal in holding the Trike-A- Thon is to help the children of the world w'ho arc stricken with diseases such as cancer, AIDS and sickle cell disease. St. Jude Children’s Research Hos pital is a world leader in the fight against these diseases, and they have made great progress but only because of the help of people like the citizens of Raeford. The late entertainer, Danny Tho mas, founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Ten nessee. The hospital is an internation ally recognized biomedical research center dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic diseases of childhood. The American Lebanese Syrian associated Charities (ALSAC) sup ports the hospital’s work. ALSAC covers all costs not covered by insur ance for medical treatment rendered at St. Jude.
