Egypt April 28,2010 THE NEWS-JOURNAL Raeford, N.C 5A (Continued from page lA) the source, it was amazing. The guide would tell you ‘this is 5,000 years old,’ and you’d be like ‘wow.’” The tour consisted of tours of Cairo, a trip to the great pyramids and a cmise ship ride down the Nile River. Students were equally impressed with the trip, maybe for different reasons. One statement can speak for all of the youth. “My favorite part was the camel ride,” said student Christian Pitts and most of the rest of the history club. “That and swimming in the Nile River.” Pitts had other memories, includ ing a spooky experience inside the Great Pyramid. “We went into the pyramid and we didn’t tip the guy (at the door) and he turned the lights off on us while we were still inside,’ ’ Pitts said. Other students enjoyed the cul ture in the Middle East. “We couldn’t talk to everyone but we still got along,” said student Caitlin Jones. “They really liked Americans... they kept saying ‘Obama, Obama.’” Student Joe Latham, who is tall, said he was amazed with how past civilizations lived. “You could tell the size of the people was a lot smaller,” Latham said. “I’ve never hadto bend thatlow. “It was a hfelong goal and get ting to go in high school was really dope,” he said. After thousands of miles by plane, ship, car and train, the students were exhausted when they arrived home. Still, the stories continue. “There’s so much to tell people when they ask about it,” said student Janae Aiken. “There’s so much you just can’t tell it all.” Helms and DeLuna l^' ^ Please Recycle Xhis Newspaper!
