The French President Stabbed by an An archist. Pauls. June 25. Sadi Caruot, pres ident of the French republic, was stabbed at 9:15 o'clock last evening in Lyons by Cesare Giovanni Santo, an Italian anarchist, and died at 12:45 o'clock. The assassin has been ar rested. President Carnot went to Lyons on Saturday to v isit the exhibition of arts, &c, and intended to remain there over Tuesday. He was accompanied by several of his cabinet and others. He was received enthusiastically. The demonstrative enthusiasm of the crowd caused the confusion which gave .Santo his opportunity, as he was able to push his way forward quite unnoticed. When Santo was within a few feet of the carriage lie waved a paper as if intending to present a pe tition, aud thus threw off their guard the persons nearest to the president, who had hardly taken his seat. Pressing through the crowd, Santo sprang upon the carriage step. Pres ident Carnot started slightly. Santo snatched a dagger from the newspa per and plunged it iiitothe president's abdomen, near the liver. The presi dent sank back unconscious. He was taken at once to the prefecture and the most skillful surgeons in the city were summoned. As Santo sprang away from the car riage step and tried to escape he was seized and surrounded. But for the prompt interference of the police lie would have been torn and trampled J.to death on the spot. As soon as the police extricated him from the hands of his captors they hurried him off to the station-house. Congress will convene at Versailles pn Wednesday to elect a president. My husband urged me ' to try a discovery, of. which we had i heard much. He said it was not a medicine, but a food. To my surprise I found it as pleasant as lemonade. Before the package was half gone, I began to improve. When the second was gone I was nearly as well as ever. 1 had gained wonderfully in every way. To make assurance doubly sure 1 took a third bottle, since which 1 have fully recovered and have suffered no relapse, and 1 owe it all to Pas kola." Mrs M. V. Cole, 227 Bloom Held St., Hoboken, N. .1., April 18, 1894. "Through the adv ice of my doctor." says another, "I have been taking emulsion of cod liver oil' for several years past. Not gaining any flesh 1 became discouraged and concluded 1 was consumptive, as 1 continued to have night sweats and a j severe cough. Since using Paskola the sweats and the cough have both disappeared. My digestion and ap petite are all right. To thin, pale people I would say, stop taking drugs and use Paskola. the food cure." Wm. Wiley, Bridgeton, N. J., April 11, 1894. " "For the last twenty-six years," says another, "I have been unable to eat any meat or fish, as I could not re tain it on my stomach. Indeed, I could hardly take any solid food. 1 have tried many doctors and countless patent medicines. Nothing was of any avail until I took Paskola. I have used three bottles and it has worked wonders. lean now eat anything that is put on the table. Heretofore eat ing was a torture; now it is a pleasure. I feel like a new man." Gratefully yours, Charles E. Isaacs, 413 Main street, Worcester, Mass., . March 6, 1894. These are steps straight ahead on the new road straight ahead to health, strength and life. No more stumbling in a circle through the woods, no more swallowing poison merely because our ancestors swallow ed them. Let's stop putting drugs, of which we know little, into our bodies, of vvhL-h we ' know less. One thing we are sure of; our bodies are built of di gested food and energized by digested food. "Medicines" have nothing un der the sun to do with that business. The hard worked machine wants a rest. Disease is cured by rest and nursing. "Rest the stomach," says a famous doctor, "and in bad cases stop all supplies of food for twenty -four hours." Right, doctor. But suppose one day isn't enough, aud commonly it isn't. Then what? Then use Paskola. Being artifici ally digested it won't disturb the stomach, and it will nourish, feed and strengthen the whole system. It is a perfect, food, with nature's work done in advance by art. It relieves distress after eating by aiding the digestion of other foods. Paskola may be obtained of any reputable druggist. A samphlet on food and digestion will be mailed free, on application to The Pre-Pigested Food Co., 30 Reade street, New York. For sale by James I.
