THE TURKEY CAUSED A Coroner's Inquest In Durham Yesterday At Durham yesterday, says the Durham Globe-Herald, just before noon, Dr. N. M. Johnson, county roroner, was notified that there was a dead body on the roof of the court house, and death was supposed to be caused by a gun shot. ; A jury was empannelled, and climb ed the ladder to the trap door in thej slate roof. After being duly sworn, they took off their shoes to slide down to where the body lay, showing to the expectant crowd below that some of them were disciples of Jerry Simpson. The body reached, it proved to be a young female fowl of the species tur key, and the evidence adduced proved to the satisfaction of the jury that, said deceased had escaped from a country wagon and taken refuge on the pinacle of justice where it came to its death by a shot from a policeman. The .great wrong of the whole busi ness is the practical joke practiced on the authorities in getting the fifty cent turkey off the roof at the county's expense. THE WEATHER.
