A Mansdld, Masa., special says Mrs. Mabel L. MacCoy, well known as a tempertuce orator, was installed pas tor of the First Tuiversalist church here this evening. The occasion was of the deepest in terest to every one in the denomina tion, as Mrs. MacCoy is considered a brilliant and brainy woman, and is ex pected jrrtstill new ideas into her chosen profession. It was evident that the parish had made en ryeffort to have the ceremony performed with fittinjr and - attractive surroundings.. About the altar was an immense quantity of white flowers, call lilies, etc. These were set off with wreaths of smilax and pots of ferns. Mrs. Ma. Coy is a handsome dark- yed woman, whose hair has just com menced to turn silver. She graduated fr.iiu Tufts College, with distinguish en honors last June, and has since been preaching at Mansfield, author ized by a license. A tele gram was sent from the navy depart ment yesterday to the commander of the cruiser Columbia at New York, di recting him to proceed to sea. The instructions to the commander of the Columbia are to proceed to the first port in th West Iudres and report to admiral Meade. When the Columbia joins the West Indian sqadrou of evolution; admiral Meade's force will consist of the New York, Minneapolis, Cincinnati and Columbia. While one of the girls employed by the Square matirh company was pulling out a crate of matches yesterday & match ignited, set fire to the boxes, and in a moment the factojy was in flames l'he employes, mostly girls, became panic-stricken, and several of them jumped from a second story window. Several were injured in the crash or by jumping, the most seriously be ing Annie Hans, whose back was sprained, The fire was extinguished before much damage was done.
