One of i he most horrible tragedies ever en acted in this couuty occurred here to day. Geo. P. Johuson, clerk of Wa tonwan oounty, and promiueut in state politics, committed suicide by pounding his brains out with a claw hammer. After beating his head al most to a pulp, he Qaished his awful work by clawing his head to pieces with the opposite side of tie hammer. Johuson was committed to the asylum a year ago, and was released in April. Recently he became worse, and the knowledge that he would be again seut to the asylum drove him to nui i oide.
