The jump wee made for a pane of $1,700. Ia tlew of the report that Ecuador la threatening to Uftd Colombia, the garrison of Paaanma ta being rein forced. It ia added that the Tnited State consul ha telegraphed to Wash ington asking that a United States warship be sent to protect American Interest. A Zanesville, Ohio, at a eamp meet ing at the anditorium in a grove tree three teet ia diameter were uprooted by a cyclone or twisted off. One wa blown on fhe anditoriam, crash ing the ballding. Mr Wilson wa track en the head and ws killed. George Dealin wu taught under the tree and died about ta hoar after be ing taken oat. A doiaa others were badly hurt. Yesterday afternoon the revenue cutter MeLane, fired upon and captur ed the tug George W. Childs, which is said to hare been purchased by the Cuban for filibustering purpose. She was boarded by a erew from the cutter and taken to Key West. Cut this Out and Preserve It. The following from the National Tribune i the clearest atatement we have yet seen as to what is meant by the free coinage of silver at the ratio of 16 to 1. It mean limply that one grain, or one ounce, or one pound any quan tity yon please f gold shall be eon atdered a worth 16 grains, ounces or pounds of silver. This ia a convenient atatement of the ratio adopted for United State mints by the eoinage act of 1834. It is eiaetly 15 98. That is 100 ounce of gold were held to be worth 1,508 ounces of silver. The ratio wa then expressed by providing that the silver dollar should contain 371 1-4 grain of pure silver (412 1 3 grain 0-1O fine,) and the gold dollar have 23.23 grains of pare gold (35.8 grains 0-10 fine.) The free silver ad vocate want every holder of silver to be allowed to take it to the mint and have every 371 1-4 grains of it made into a silver dollar which shall be as good as a gold dollar. The objection to this ia, that much silver is worth in the market of the world only about 47 cent. BASEBALL NEWS. The RMrd ef Gaate) Played Yesterday, anoaai Laaaua.
