It fell, splash, on the hack of 1 sleeping leop ard, who jumped perpendicularly into the air as high as the roof of the hut. What might have happened next? Who can say? Hut the astonished woman dropped the pin with a clang upon, the rock, and the leopard took one leap down hill. The pan followed, and the leopard's downward leaps became lon ger anil swifter as the pan bounded af ter it from rock to ruck. When last seen the leopird had just achieved a leap of about 350 feet to the veiy bottom of the ravine, thousands of feet below, and the pan had whirled about 500 feet '-er it on tt the oppo site side. The leopard would have eaten the old worn .n with pleasure; but a pan which first scalded half the hide off him and then bounded clanging in hi? wake from the top uf the Himala yas to the plains below was something which he .?ould not face. An amusing scene occurred yesterday afternoon In the Rue Lamarck. An architect living in the street Is the mvnei of a large monkey answering the i ame of liampoula. The architect was in the habit after his luncheon of bring ing his )iet into his sitting room and tie .ting it to a cup of coffee and a glass it cogna . A friend ot the architect I happened to call yesterday. He was given the monkey's coffee and cognac, liamboula was highly incensed at be ing thus deprived of his accustomed treat, ind at once proceeded to exhibit his displeasure by throwing a foot stool at his master's head. As he continued his protest by throwing article after ar ticle of furnituie out of the window, the architect attempted to put him back in his cage, but, unable to do so :tlone, he called in his neighbors to the res cue. Their appearance on .the sujene only ailed to the resentment of the mon key, who. dodging his pursuers, dart ed from room to room, now going in through a w indow, now through a door, and either broke what lie ."ould on hi passage or threw ,m p n table articles on; into the street, liamboula was at last laid low by a bullet from a revolv er.
