The bill yesterday introduced by l'.ep resentative Thompson in the House is ti strike at the educational and char itable institutions of tile State which now have any investments in so-called ' trusts." The bill is in keeping with the Stevens anti-trust bill which pass ed the House and is now pending in th- Senate. I'nder the provisions of this bill it is a misdemeanor to own any sto--k in a trust and the punish ment is severe. However, the H use in iistwisdom. saw lit -to exempt from these provisions "present investments" of educational and charitable institu tions. Mr. Thompson's bill now seeks to change this Stevens bill and not e.llow these semi-religious institutions to do with impunity what private citi zens are prohibited from doing. For the life of us we cannot see the Justice in tins discrimination. What is wrong for a citizen. It seems to us, is wrong for a college. However, we do not mean to favor Mr Thompson's bill, for In our Judgment It simply, clearly shows the Injustice and even absurdity of the Stevens bill. 4Dkom m AGAINST POLYGAMY.
