' The party fished until 2:80 P. M., haying caught 26 nice large fish.. The fish were fried and a delicious dinner served on the bank of Shooting Creek, after which the party departed for home. We are sorry to say that Mrs. Jar. rett Thompson has been indisposed with rheumatism for past week, and hope she will soon be out again. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Swann and baby, of Asheville spent Sunday with Mrs. Swann’s parents Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Sullivan. Mr. Victor Scroggs, of Asheville, spent Sunday in Hayesville with friends. Miss Pearl Coleman, of Sweetwat er, Tenn., spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Cole man. * Miss Elizabeth Coleman who teach es on Bell. Creek, spent the wefek-end with home folks. Misarf^hristine Deweese who spent three Greeks with her mother Mrs. Isaac Newel in Asheville, returned home Thursday. Col. O. L. Mrs. John O. stayed for a few days ■rait, return ing home Suftday. Mr. R. L. Anderson, of Ogden at tended the Republican County Con vention in Hayesville Saturday. Misses Margie and Myrt Prater were shopping in town Saturday. Mr. N. N. Rogers of Shooting Creek was in town Monday. Mr. J. S. Ledford was a visitor in town Saturday. Mr. John . Sellers, of Elf was a town visitor Saturday. Miss Byrd Nolan, of Gastonia, N. C., is bpending some time with Mr. and Mrs. James Penland. Miss Cora Harding who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Bish Cole man at Oneida, Tenn., returned home last Saturday. Mr. Harry Miller was in Atlanta several days last week on business for the Hayesville Auto Company. Messrs S. W .Black and J. E. Co bum, of Bkyson City were business visitors in Hayesville last week. Sallie Joe Anderson, little daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Early Ander son has been right sick with Tonsi litis, but is better at this writing. Mr. T. D. Deweese, of Hayesville was a Murphy visitor last Thursday. The Eastern Star Chapter No. 11 held Ha regular meeting Saturday P. M., September 25th, at which time Mrs. W. R. Anderson and Mrs. Glenn Swanson warn initiated. DeOclou* refreshments were served. Mrs. Lira Sullivan Bayles, of Sylvia was a vis itor. The district meeting will be held at this Chapter in October. Dr. J. M. Sullivan was a visitor to Sylvia last week. While away the Doctor traded for a new Overland Whippet Coach. Those stopping at the McClure Ho tel this week are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Wann All of the above parties are United States Government' Surveyors,- they have been at work surveying out the Hiawassee Valley. These gentlemen completed the survey and left for Chattanooga, Tenn., this morning. ' " — Mr. Harry Patton, and Mr. John Sweet made a business trip to Ashe ville this week. These gentlemen are staying at the McClure house this summer. Mr. Cha8. Some, of Gainesville, Ga was in the city Tuesday looking af ter bis cross-tie business. Mr. Marsh, Resident Engineer for Highway No. 28, Mr. Morton, Inspec tor; Mr. Gribble, Mr. Gunkin and Mr. Justice, Engineers all for No. 28 are stopping at the McClure House. - Those stopping at the Commercial Hotel are: Mr. Davis, wife and little son; Mr. Patterson, wife and daughter and Mr. Scruggins, wife and son. These gentlemen have the contract for building Highway No. 28. Mis. Townsend, of Blue Ridge, Ga., spent the week-end at the Commer cial Hotel with her sister, Mrs. Glenn Swanson.
