LOCAL AND PERSONAL Jolly Miller, ypung step-sod of Mr. A. D. Evans, HayesviRe route 2, won a $15.00 cash prise through D. M. Ferty SeedCompany on the best letter “Why plant and cultivate a garden.” Rev. H. H. Hyde, of Andrews is conducting a revival meeting at the Moss Baptist church on Tusquittee this Week. Messrs. J. A. Wood and J. E. Bar nard, of Warne section were in Hay esville last week on business. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. McGlamery and young son, R. L. McGlamery, accompanied by Mrs., W. A. Mc Glamery and Mr. Frank Penland, motored to Asheville last Thursday. They returned to Hayesville Thurs day of this week. Mr. W. A. Mc Glamery, student at Chapel Hill met Mrs. McGlamery and the party attended the marriage of Miss Chris tine Curtis to Mr. Tom Roper which was solemnized on Wednes day, August 1st, in Asheville. Messrs. Ferman Smart, Robert Penland, George Jarrett, Bennie Mc Glamery and Herbert McGlamery were the dinner guests of Mr. H. L. Long Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Jones and little daughter, Evelyn Lee, of Chat tanooga, Tenn., spent several daysi this week with Mrs. Jone’s sister, Mrs. J. A. Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Tim May, of Cam den, Ala., and Mrs. S. J. May and Mrs. Nanna Boone, of Flats, Macon County, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gray and Dr. and Mrs. J. M. May. Mrs. Claud Bumgarner left Sun day for Chicago, 111., where she will visit her mother and relatives for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Piercy, and Mrs. Fannie Odom, of Andrews, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Herbert Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed L. Anderson spent Sunday with Rev. and Mrs. C. S. Plyler. Miss Alwayne Anderson was ., a visitor ait the home of Mrs: T. M. McClure Sunday. Mr. Herman Padgett, of Jasper, Ga., spent several days this week with his mother, Mrs. Padgett and brother, A. F. Padgett. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Padgett re turned Friday from a weeks visit with Mrs. Padgett’s parents, at Maditon, W. Va. Mr. Z. V. "kimsey, of Epworth, Ga., spent several days last week in the county with relatives. He return ed home Saturday, 28th, accompan ied by his sister, Mrs. Tom Lance. The Senior Class of Myers Chap el will give a play Saturday night, August 4th, entitled “All on account of Polly.” A small admission will be charged which will be used in repairing the church. Everybody cordially invited. Mr. J. C. Whitmire,' of Cherry field, is spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Scroggs this week. Dr. and Mrs. Castell wer^ guests of Dr. and Mrs, J. M. Sullivan Sunday. Mrs. H. L.. Carrol, of Atlanta, Ga., has been spending several days with Mrs. W. B. Pass at her lovely borne “The Oaks.” Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Dyer and Mrs. E. G. Welborn, all of Blairsville, Ga., were guests of Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Sullivan this week. Mr. W. T. Moore, of Andrews, was in Hayesville Tuesday looking after the building of the new Elf school house. Mr. W. H. Shearer, and son, Wil liam, of Brasstown, Ala., and Mr. Theron Shearer, of Ohio, are spend ing this week with Messrs. A. J. and J. M. Coleman. Rev. W. F. Burns, Field Represen tative for the Thomasville Baptist Orphanage, was a delightful visitor here last Saturday evening. Mr. Burns is making an effort to enlist all the Baptist churches of the State to subscribe to Charity and Chil dren, and set aside the Sunday of fering for one * Sunday in each month to the orphanage.
