LOCAL AND PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hill and son, Harley, of Spartanburg, S. C.. are spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Smith. Mrs. Hill is a sister of Mrs. Smith. Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Dupree, of Greensboro, Fla., visited their daugh er, Mrs. Claud Winchester, 'last week. Mrs. Winchester and young son accompanied them back to Flor iad and \#ill spend several weeks there. , Rev. M. A. Adams, of Rutherford ton, N. C., who has charge of the Centennial Campaign with head quarters at Andrews, N. C., spoke at the Baptist church last Sunday night to a good congregation. He brought .a very interesting message on the .subject of Christian Education and the need for support of our schools and colleges.. Mrs. Francis Simpson, sister of Mr. Richey, and little son left Wed nesday for Front Royal, Va., Mrs. Simpson’s home. Dr. and Mrs.. F. G. Smith, Mrs. Fleet Scroggs, and daughter, all of Franklin, visited Mrs. G. D. Scroggs last Sunday. Mr. Bonnell H. Stone, of Blairs ville, Ga., and Mr. B. M. Lufburrow, of Atlanta, Ga., of the United States Department of Forest Service, Were sin Hayesville last Monday. Mr. John Dunwoody, of Atlanta, Ga., spent Sunday with Miss Betty Mooney. Mrs. J. C. McCracken and daugh ter, Ruby, spent last week-end in Waynesville and Canton. While there they attended Home Coming Day at Rock Springs. Miss Bill Allison, of Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Evelyn Crawford, of Hayesville, visited Mrs. J. C. Mc Gracken last week. Miss Thelma Penland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Witt Penland, is at home after attending summer school ■at Chapel Hill. Mrs. Sophie Dillard and son, of Atlanta, Ga., are spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. Wit Penlantd at Elf. The Woman’s Club will hold its next regular meeting .at the court house Tuesday, August 14, at 3:00 P. M. All members are urged to be present. Rev. W. F. Sinclair, pastor of the Hayesville Baptist church, will preach at Mt. Pleasant on Sunday, August 12th, at 11:00 o’clock and at the Moss Baptist church on Tus quittee at 3:00- o’clock P. M.; and at Mayesville at 8:30 P. M. All members of these ohurches are urg ed to be present. Visitors will be i warmly welcomed. Rev. Mr. Sin i clair will preach on the first and {third Sunday mornings and every I Sunday night at Hayesville until [further notice. I Mr. J. W. Green, of Hayesyille route 3, spent several days this week in Asheville with his toother who is ill at that place._ Mr. H. B. Varner, of Canton, N. C., returned home Tuesday afternoon after two weeks visit with relatives in the county. _ Messrs. Weaver Anderson, Fred Palmer and Dick Palmer made a trip to Atlanta Sunday to see Mr. Luther Palmer who is in a hospital there recuperating from a recent op eration. His condition is very good. Miss Juanit Bell, of Andrews, is visiting her uncle, Mr. Allen J. Bell. Miss Lucile Matherson, of An drews, is visiting relatives in Hayes ville this week. Misses Josephine Weaver, Irene Sellers and Mary Pearl Reagan were the dinner guests Sunday of Miss Reta Hyatt. Mr. Hugh Noland, of Lake Juna luska, visited his brother, Mr. Dew ey Noland, on Shooting Creek last week. Mr. Dewey Noland is State Highway engineer on No. 28. Mr. Frank Herbert is having his dwelling painted this week. Mr. Weaver Anderson just recently had his home remodeled and painted. Such work as this not only adds to the appearance of these homes but helps to make Hayesville a prettier town. We hope to see more of such improvements.
