Circle Meets
The Attie Bostick Missionary
Circle of the First Baptist Church
met with Mrs. Conley Kiser Mon
day afternoon, May 8th, for the
monthly business meeting.
The chairman. Mrs. George
Falls, presided over the business
the roll was called by the secreta
ry, Mrs Kiser. Devotional and
prayer was given by the chair
man. Second chapter in the book,
“The Way of Missionary Educa
tion" was taught by Mrs. Falls
and Mrs. Dwight Jenks.
Refreshments were served to
sixteen members. The meeting
adjourned to meet with Mrs. Dora
McGinnas iii June.

Meets at Mrs. Boyles’
The Lottie Moon Circle of the
Missionary Society of the First
Baptist Church met in the home
of Mrs. Jay Boyles on Monday
afternoon at four o’clock.
Three new members, Mrs.
Boyles, Mrs. Clyde Carpenter and
Mrs. Kelly Huss, were welcomed
into the Circle.
The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. Coleman Jenkins and fol
lowed with a prayer hv Mrs. J. J.
After a brief session of busi
ness and several reports, the fol

Y. W. A. Meets
The Young Woman’s Auxiliary
of the First Baptist Church met
Tuesday night, May 9, at the home
of Mrs. Steve Stroupe.
This being the regular month
ly meeting of the Auxiliary, the
President. • Miss Marisel Levine,
had charge of a short business
session.
We were sorry to learn that
one of our counselors. Miss Julia
Renfro, was with us for her last
time until next year. She ended
her last meeting bv presenting a
very interesting program on China
Miss Renfro, we will miss you
very much and we are looking
forward to the time when you will
he back with us.

Oherryville Woman’s
Club Holds Meeting
The Cherryville Woman's Club
held the April meeting at the Xu
way Club house, April 25th, at
6:60 o’clock.
The meeting was called to or
der by the President, Mrs. Ralph
Hoyle. The business session inclu
ded roll call, reading of the minu
tes and correspondence; and the
treasurer’s report which showed a
balance of $8068.6!) in the Wom
an’s Club treasury anil $,’112.67 in
the Christmas Seal Fund.
Mrs. George Falls of the Gov
erning Board of the club re
ported the sale of the club house,
recommended leaving the Venetian
blinds and shades in the clubhouse
This was voted on and carried by
the club members.
The library will be moved from
the Woman’s Club house to the
Nuway Club house and will be op
ened on Tuesday afternoons

given. The numbers on the pro
gram were as follows:

Talks on the Life and Works

McDill, pastor of the First A.R.P,
church in Gastonia.
The last number on the pro
gram was a piano solo: Witches
Dance—MacDowell — Miss Cole
man.
The President announced that
the May meeting will be held at
the Nuway Club House and yearly
reports will be given by the offi
cers and chairmen of the commit
tees.
The club adjourned after Mrs.
E. S. W'ehunt and her committee
served a delicious sandwich plate
with iced tea to the members anc

Celebrates Birthday
Margaret Boyles, attractive lit
tle daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.
B. Boyles, celebrated her eighth
birthday anniversary with a birth
day party, Saturday afternoon.
May 6th, from 4 to 6 o’clock, at
the home of her parents on North
Mountain street.
The little guests enjoyed gam
es on the lawn after which they |
were invited into the dining room
' for refreshments. The dining ta
ble was covered with a white lace
cloth and centered with a white
and pink birthday cake topped
with eight pink lighted candles.
Refreshments consisting of ice
cream, individual birthday cakes,
and punch were served. Tiny
white baskets filled with candy
and tied with pink ribbon were
given as favors.
