Funeral Services For David Sisk Tuesday Funeral services were conduc ted from Mary’s Grove Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock for David Sisk, b8. who died at the home of his son Melvin Sisk, near High Shoals Sunday morning Mr. Sisk had been in failing health for more than a year and suffered a stroke Friday'which resulted in his death. Services were in charge of the pastor Rev. Clegg W. Avett. Pall bearers wer nephew's and nieces served as flower girls. Mr. Sisk is survived by several children and two sisters. Both sis ters, Mrs. George Hallman and Mrs. Lena hutfstetler, live in Cherryville. Funeral Services For Mrs. A. H. The body was laid to rest in the family plot at the New Memorial Cemetery under a mound of beau tiful flowers. Mrs. Hallman died suddenly on 1 Sunday night between 11 :30 &nd 12:00 o’clock follow: ;g a heart axtacK. one was do»«; .nau-n 1883. being 61 yeai . 10 month* and 28 days of ago. She was a j kind and loving wi+V and mother, j a good neighbor, kind to all with whom she came m contact and loved bv all who really knew her. She will be greatly missed by all, especially in the home and in the community where she lived. Surviving are the following children, Charlie Hallman, Cart Hallman, Garland Hallman, Mar shall Hallman, Lloyd Hallman, all of Cherryville; Buie Hallman ot Hickory and Cpl. Howard Hall man, overseas in Luxembourg with the Third Army. Also surviv ing are two brothers, Luther Chil dres of China Grove and Henry C’hildres of Ghstonia, and seven grand children. Her husband pre ceded her to the grave in Decem ber 1943 and a son, Clyde died in June 1942. Two sons, Marshall and Charlie were recently dis charged from the Army service. Wallace, Jr., who are stationed at Camp Croft, S. C., spent the week-end with their wives and parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wallace. Cpl.. Murray V. Beam now sta tioned somewhere in France with the 4th Army itngrs. Corps, has been confined to the hospital with flue, but has recovered sufficient to return to duty. Mr. Bennett Vandyke who has been in the Memorial hospital in Charlotte for treatment returned here Saturday and is getting dong nicely. He is at the home his parents Mr. and Mrs. S. A. . an Dyke on Pink street. Petty Officer and Mrs. Max Putnam have returned to Great Lakes, 111 after spending the past week with their respective moth ers, Mrs. W. A. Putnam and Mrs. D. L. Houser, both of Shelby. Mrs. Lester Dellinger and sis ter, Mrs. W. D. Shannon of For dyce, Ark. spent last week in Freemont the guests 'j their sis ter Mrs. H. D. Dickinson and Mr. Dickinson. Since these chimes are played via amplification of recoTdings the numbers may be interspersed with Organ numbers as well as chimes. The Second Baptist church hopes that this rendering of some of the best music will be of benefit to the community. The public is cordially invited to hear Mr. Swicegood. DOUGLAS RUFF RECEIVES PROMOTION FROM RAILWAY Douglas Ruff, communications engineer of the Southern Railway System at Washington, D. C. has been promoted to general supervi sor communications, with the same headquarters, according to an announcement by J. R. Smith assistant to vice president of the railway. Mr. Ruff was born at Columbia, S. C. on May 20, 1903 and atten ded public schools there and The Citadel at Charleston, S. C. He entered the service of the South ern Railway as general foreman in the communications depart ment at Charlotte, N. C., on April 15, 1929. On May 1, 1939- he was appointed supervisor telegraph and telephone at Cincinnati, Ohio and on May 10, 1944 he was pro moted to telegraph and telephone engineer at Washington. He was appointed communications engin eer on October 1. 1944 the posi tion he held until his recent pro niot ion. Mr. Ruff’s wife will be remem bered here as Miss Alma Kend rick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ,). W. Kendrick. They have many friends here who will be glad to learn of his advancement.
