Place an old bath towel or cloth (uncolored) under the stained a-ea. Press. Always begin removing stain at the outer edges of the stained area, and gradually work in from the edges toward the center. (If you work from the center out you may enlarge the stained area). Do riot' at any time brush or rub a stained area vigorously as this ac tion tends"to distort the pile. The disturbed pile may be more ob jectionable than the stain. If a stain will respond at all to treat ment, it will respond readily with out harsh rubbing. Quick Formula to Use: 1 tea spoonful of neutral (non alkaline) svnthetie, soapless detergent such as those widely advertised for safe washing of fine fabrics; 1-2 pint lukewarm water. Put the deter gent in a jar, mixing bowl, or other container. Add the water and stir vigorously until you have obtained a dear solution without residue. The amount of suds has no baering on the effectiveness ot the formula. Apply'this solution directly on the stain with an eye dropper. Using a rotary motion, sponge the stained area with a clean, white cloth beginning at the outer edge ann working in. (Try to keep in side tlie stained area at all times). Blot mi remaining moisture with damp cloths, sponging in the direction of the pile lay. Finally with another cloth dampened in clean, lukeware water sponge the area again several times. Finish bv blotting up remaining moisture with damp cloths. (Try this to re move stains to rugs or carpets caused by spilled foods, beverages or bloods.
